Miami loses a winnable game against the Giants.

MNF Miami Dolphins Versus New York Giants Post Game Analysis. By Tony Nicoletti

31 to 24 was the final score in the Giants favor.

What can I say? It was a mediocre game played by two mediocre teams that were both, 5 and 7. There was not much good that can be derived from this loss. The New York Giants had a little more incentive to win than the Dolphins, I guess. Of course, in a division where a 6 and 7 record has you in a three-way tie for the division lead. Yeah, they had something to play for. Miami is in the wrong eastern division to get breaks like that.

I'm not going to give you a blow by blow since it was a nationally televised, Monday night game. Besides, I really didn't get to watch the game much. (I saw glimpses of it during commercials while my brother in law was watching his usual, 3-hour Monday Night Raw Wrestling)! I'm going to offer my impressions from what I did see with a few statistics sprinkled in for good measure.

On the negative side; It appears that Odell Beckham got the better of his LSU Collegiate teammate and friend, (Jarvis Landry) on this afternoon. But not by much. Beckham Jr caught 7 passes for 166 yards, 2 TD's and his longest play was 84 yards for a TD.

Landry had an equally stellar game in a utilitarian way. He caught 11 passes for 99 yards, 0 TD's with a long play of 25 yards. Landry also contributed 66 yards on two kickoff returns and another 30 yards on a pair of punt returns. Still, I think Landry would rather have the win to go along with his stats.

The defense played stout for portions of the game but looked gassed near the end. You can't allow a veteran QB like Eli Manning any comfort zone or he will pick you apart. Especially with receivers like Odell Beckham. The Dolphins allowed several big plays to gash the defense. Manning was getting the ball out so fast that our pass rush seemed to always be a half step too late.

Miami's banged-up secondary did not challenge or disrupt the Giants receivers enough to break Manning's timing or rhythm. It proved to be the Dolphins downfall. Especially in the second half where Eli got 183 yards of his 337 total passing yards. He connected on 27 of 31 pass attempts, (an 87% completion rate) and 4 TD's. It's a wonder the Dolphins only lost by 7 points when your QB is racking up stats like that.

There were only a few positives to consider in this match up for Miami. If you want to call them positives?

For the second week in a row, Miami did not allow their opponent to rush for more than 100 yards. (92 yards on 32 carries for a 2.9-yard average and we had 5 stops for a loss totaling 13 yards). New York didn't get any negative yardage plays on our rushing attack which produced a solid 128 total yards on 22 attempts and a 5.8 yard per carry average. Miller had a good day rushing 12 times for 89 yards, 2 TD's and a long run of 38 yards for one score.

Ryan Tannehill played a decent game and was better utilized, adding 24 rushing yards on 4 carries with a long of 12 yards. He also rolled out and scrambled more to avoid the rush and to buy some time. He completed 25 of his 41 attempts, (60% completion rate) for 236 yards and a TD, with no interceptions. He also audibled out of a few plays that had successful outcomes. He spread the ball around well, too.

But it seemed that just about the time we needed Ryan Tannehill to step up and put the team on his shoulders, the offensive line would fail him and send him running for his life. He almost avoided the only sack in the game when he didn't quite make it back to the line of scrimmage on one play. He's still getting mauled in the back field and hit too much.

I think another week or two in this offensive game plan and this team will start putting points up on a more consistent basis. The defense is playing good enough to help us win, but we can't continue the offensive, "three and outs" which puts a tired defense back on the field.

Unfortunately, with only three games left to play, I think we can expect to see major changes for the Miami Dolphins in the off season. I like the play calling in this game which stretched and forced the Giants to defend the entire field of play. We did score 24 points which, in the NFL, is almost enough to win.

It will be interesting to see how the Dolphins finish the season and what kind of character they will show. Yes, they are definitely out of the playoffs but still have a lot to play for. The players and coaches are basically auditioning for jobs next year. Be it with the Dolphins, or some other team.

It is a disappointment for many of the Dolphin loyals to endure another mediocre season. But this is who the Dolphins are right now. It's been a growing experience since Ross bought this team. All we can hope for is that he has learned enough from his past mistakes to make the right decisions this time around.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I know I am a a homer and an eternal optomist where our beloved Dolphins are concerned. Have been for their entire 50 years of existernce. I just hope and pray that this storied franchise gets their act together and return to their former glory, real soon.

Thanks for your time in reading, and please tell us your side of this games story!

Great post thanks. A couple things. Miami lives and plays everyday in the heat, yet it effected them and not a team from the north. Why? That should be our advantage. Our tight ends are very bad. If they could catch the outcome may have been different. Charles Clay? We have to completely revamp the defensive backfield. That includes the defensive coach. Some of those coverage's were horrible. How do you not give your corner help against the best receiver in football? FINS UP!

Thank you, Defin. I wondered that myself, Defins. You'd think we would be better acclimated to the heat and humidity. I wonder if the Collective Bargaining Agreement has something to do with that since it does limit how many and what type of practices a team can have throughout the season.

And you are so right. I've read where there were a half-dozen drops by receivers during the game. Two of them would have been touch downs. And yes, we definitely blew some coverage assignments. That needs to be cleaned up. Especially when you are going up against a savvy veteran QB like Manning.
Tony, the Giants are under the same CBA yet were more resilient in the heat than we were.

Hard to say TX. They say the running game is what wears defenses down. The Giants stayed with the run late in the game. We didn't.

But you are right. The CBA levels the playing field.
And our running game was doing well. It is a fact that when we run, we do batter as a team. Miller wants more carries. Let him run. He showed good stuff on Monday night.
Yep.. LMiller has more than 14 carries in each of our W's and fewer than 14 in each of our L's !!

Rumor has it that (at this point) Miami is hoping to keep his FA value down..

Born and raised in Miami/Hurricane/Dolphin, he wants to remain !!

So I'm guessing that he will unless someone offers him a wheel-barrel full of legal tender...

Need to keep OV (first and foremost) as he is now our premiere pass rusher !!

CWake won't be able to return till late o16 (if at all), and Ajayi is there if LMiller leaves the nest...
M and A are lethal. Williams complements them well. OV has to stay for sure.
Use Miller like you want him on your team next season. I think the Patsies would offer him since he fits their scheme well. I would not like to play against him.
I'm going to say something that Dolphin fans are NOT going to like..............Tannehill STILL can't throw the long ball...........He missed at least 3 of them that I saw, which if caught, ( that's another problem ) would have probably won the game. I agree, how could a team from Miami be affected by the heat????...........The last quarter the defense was gased, especially the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. That's just improper conditioning.........I've been a fan for 30+years now, this team doesn't have HEART. There is NO clear cut LEADER on this team!!!.................It's sad to watch them from week to week. Lets hope they finish out with dignity and rebuild in the offseason................

Can't argue with you there, FinFan.

I hope they finish with dignity and do what they must to be more competitive next season. But the holes and needs are many and I doubt the Dolphins can replace or repair this team in one off season. And then there is the salary cap and free agents that ned top be resigned or let go. Like coach Campbell said. Now is when they find out who really loves the game and wants to play.

And a couple of those deep passes were dropped, too. The reason Tannehill was even able to throw those long balls was because they varied their attack and utilized a good running game to help set up their passing game. From what I have seen and read, Tanehill has improving on his long ball accuracy.

In my opinion, the first thing Mr. Ross needs to do is SELL the team to someone that cares about the tradition and history of the Dolphins. He seems to care mostly about the "Glitz and the glamour" of the spotlight. A Tim Tebow Day during a Dolphins home game, are you kidding me? Who cares if Marc Anthony or the Williams sisters are part owners. The fan want the Dolphins back. Even Trent Dilfer said on National TV, "The attitude on the field feels more like a flippin party than a football game!". I have been a fan since since the get go and feel very sad to see the individual talent on the field but not a talented TEAM.
1 reply · active 486 weeks ago
I am with you PF Ross does not need to own this team. I have said this since the day he hired Philbin. Glitz and glory is all he is about. The man himself has no heart for our team. I wish the Shulas would buy the team.

I feel the way Phins Fan. Been a fan since day one, myself. And with a rich, historically significant franchise like Miami, you hate to see them get swallowed up in mediocrity.

They have quite a bit of talent on the surface, but quality depth is an issue that needs to be addressed. It's going to take some creative accounting to get our salary cap in line to infuse what talent they need in free agency and the draft. Some hard choices wil have to be made.

brother in law wrestling REALLY LOL Good post except I think we did play a pretty good game. Cannot understand Suh he is just about his money I think. Another shiny piece for Ross to claim.

He has to watch 3 hours on Monday night and 2 hours on Thursday. It used to be on 3 times a week. Actually, we did play pretty good. Had some bone head, unnecessary personal foul penalties at costly times, though.
If Ross is smart enough to keep our coaches except defense I think we will be a tough team next year. Sounds like your brother in lay are a shortage of brain cells LOL

That is not saying much for me, Polly. Usually, he wants me to watch it with him. And I do. But not when Miami is playing!

It doesn't require any brain cells to find wrestling entertaining. (As long as you don't believe half of what you hear and see).
So right about the wrestling/if you enjoyit I would never let my boys watch it but that is me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent more than 50 years not watching it until I met this relative. Personally, I would prefer to watch a football game rather than wrestling for 3 hours on a Monday Night!
I would watch anything rather than wrestling LOL I remember when I was very young we went to my Dad's best friends every Wed. nite because he and Chuck watched boxing matches. Did not see much in that either. But then I raced cars and my Dad thought I was crazy wanted to buy this 66 Vette but he would not sign for me so I bought a 67 super sport with a 427 and got over on him.

Suh seemed to me the only one that showed up. Hard to get to the QB when your double teamed 99% of the time.
Gruden highlighted Suh being so tired. You're right NEFF. It's tough when you have to get through two or three to get to the QB each time. He earned that tired feeling.
NEFF yes I had this argument with my boys he is teamed up on but I was looking for more production from him

Again Polly, you can only be as good as the team around you. If Gronk was New England's only receiver, he would never get a catch because he would be double and triple teamed. Kinda like how some folks see Tannehill. Would be a better QB with a better O line.

Plan and simple, the dolphins always fail to take advantage of the heat in Miami. In the second quarter after the offense drove down the field with no huddles, the Giant's defense was sucking wind. Did we continue doing that? Nope, we let up and they did it right back at us and kept it up until our team had nothing left in the tank. They do it all the time.

Well said NEFF. Players like Suh are supposed to eat up linemen so that others can plug the gaps and get to the ball. Double teaming some players mean others are matched up one on one. Somebody has to make the play.
We have Vernon and Phillips to also wreak havoc. They are trying to take advantage of Suh's occupying multiple linemen. Phillips is learning the game and Vernon has done well. Shelby isn't bad but was basically silent against the Giants.
Nice Job Tony, THANK YOU !!! : )))

OrFinFan (Tony) · 486 weeks ago

Thank you, Kenny. I saw that video, too. Darrein Rizzi comes up with some interesting little nuggets. He's every bit as entertaining as Campbell, the OC and DC. Well, almost as much as Dan Campbell.
I find this funny. So ok, everyone has an opinion. I get it LOL.

Look, we all wanted for the most part for Philbin to be axed. Well it happened at a very bad time during the beginning of the season. Once a condition or process happens mid stream, you are screwed. Now the excuses of Tannehill this, defense that, Miami not using Miller the right way etc. BS.

What do we expect. Dan Campbell with hardly any experience take the wheel of a broken ship and right the rudder when the problems have not been fixed????? Are we fooling ourselves???? This cracks me up. Look, sure I want Miami to win but when drastic changes take place, winning becomes rare. Answer me this, HOW MANY INTERIM COACHES FIND SUCCESS WHEN THEY TAKE OVER A TEAM? AND NAME THEM? Come on man.

I say don't blame Ross. He gets paid no matter what. If we consistently want change and force Ross's hand over to make the changes but then we don't like the change and then call him stupid or incompetent. Get real, maybe the issue is Us as a whole. Maybe just maybe we expect too much. When was the last time you/us fans invested into the Miami Dolphins, not just going to a game I mean actually fund the organization like Ross? I don't. So what say do I really have. See this is just entertainment and Ross is simply trying to give his cry baby fans what they want to make money.

it doesn't matter win or lose. I saw a post from a Patsie fan, I was cracking up, he said" Stupid Dolphin fans always talking crap about Miami winning but come up short. But us smart New England fans know better". Who is to say this moron is smarter than any of us???? So ok if New England doesn't win the Super Bowl does that make this guy stupid???? Ha, see it is becoming comical, so let's say Miami wins the Super Bowl next season so does this mean that we are smarter???? That is nonsense. Since when is it that being a fan sets a mans intelligence? I thought intelligence was proven on how a man or woman handles the challenges of life and what they do in life not being a fan of something that is merely entertainment.

As far as Tannehill goes, he actually played a pretty good game. It was mentioned 3 passes were missed by Tannehill. So every QB will miss like this. Can't be fricken perfect all the time. Whaaaaaahhhhhh. I counted numerous drops, but I know it is TANNEHILL"S FAULT BECAUSE HE SIGNED A 96 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT AND GIVES US NOTHING WWWWHHHHHAAAAAHHHHH. BOOOOO HOOOO. Oh boy, actually Tannehill is being paid exactly what he is worth and nothing more. You know this BS sounds exactly like what the fans in Cincy said about Dalton and fans in Carolina said about Newton, look at what they are doing this year and I only hear how great they are because people are so smart. COME ON MAN

Well, that was a mouthful, Thorny. Wow.

You know, I think those two break out games to start Dan Campbell's internship, (the Titans and Texans games) and the fact that Campbell was such a polar opposite from Phlbin was just such a welcome sight for us Miami fans. Too bad it was too good to be true.

I'm not so much interested in who is to blame as much as I am interested in seeing this team get back on the winning band wagon.

But thanks for the reality check, my friend.

Winning does seem to cure all ailments.

We've all been on this up and down rolercoaster ride for too long.
Don't forget Todd Bowles was 2-1 after he took Sparano's place.
BRAVO, ENCORE THORNY, (my BIC is LIT)!!!

NewEngFinFan · 486 weeks ago

Thorny I can only say that the Patsy Fan was probably young. A real Patriots fan who had to suffer years of the same thing that we're going through now, would know better then to call out fans of other unsuccessful teams. These young 20-30 year olds have only seen success up here in New England (4 Super Bowls, 3 World Series, 1 NBA Championship and 1 Stanley Cup). Prior to that New England didn't have much to look forward to.

But as far as the attitude that some of us have for our team is no different then any other fan for another unsuccessful team. I'm sure them Detroit Lion fans don't get all excited about losing ever Thanksgiving. or the Saints back in the day with the fans who did show up for their games wore paper bags over their heads with the word "Aints" written on it.

I watched the story of the Dolphin's last night and pretty much it was all about the 72-73 Dolphins and a tad bit about Marino and the 83 Super bowl. Hard to attempt to be happy with an organization that puts out the same product each and every year. Even worse when we all sit around making excuses about certain players or coaches that were holding the team down, but then those players get traded and wind up pounded it right to us. i.e. Brandon Marshal
That kind of says something about how they were treated or not used.

Coach Shula was there with a lot of former players for the 50 yrs of Miami Dolphins, the field had the old logo painted at the 50yd line.

Tonight (wed) on NFL channel at 8pm est, a special on the Dolphins will air. 50 years Miami Dolphin Gala.
I hope they show the half time ceremonies with Caoach Shula etc.
Keep the faith. We are Dolphins forever no mater what.

I am sure the NFL channel will run it again. It was pretty good, and when Jim Mandich's clip on talking about Coach Shula came up, I got whispy. I met Mad dog in the Keys years ago at his bar. We talked about fishing for 2 hours. I messed up and didnt get an autograph. Just not the time to ask because we were all just a bunch of sport fishermen that loved the Keys fishing grounds. Nothing to compare to it.
Anyway, the show was decent and it was good to see so many of the older players. I must say Czonka really stole the show at the podium when he said he wasn't going to read ''the crap'' that was written on the monitor for him, he just decided to tell it like it was back in the day and how tough Coach Shula was after they lost the Super Bowl in 71. Nothing like going Perfect in 72!
Look for this show, maybe it will be on the internet soon, somewhere.

What I took from Mondays ho-hum loss. Again it was noted that Grimes cannot cover talented WR's. Torched a couple weeks ago by Marshall and now torched by Beckham. One would think that since he was only the Giants real weapon that someone would of had a double team put on him. Nope..... Also noted that we had that really nice quick drive where it looked like Miami was working on tiring out the Giants defense and it actually looked as though it would of worked.... "IF THEY WOULD OF STAYED WITH IT". Nope, by the end of the game it looked like the Giants offense had done that same thing to our defense. All in all, what I expected.
Shot ourselves in the foot over and over, yet again, the majority of times we made a key play, or had a big opportunity to make a scoring splash, we'd drop the ball (literally), or have it reversed via penalty !!

Final drive for an attempted tie, 1st down near midfield in NY territory, (JUICE) Landry loses his cool and aggressively throws player off of him and to the ground after the whistle, and suddenly because it was after the play we have a 2nd down and 25 from our own 36 or so which obviously didn't help our final drive attempt to tie the score !!

FRICKEN BRUTALLL, he's had four personal foul penalties that have killed us this year!! OJ (Juice) McDuffie (a highly aggressive extremely productive player in his day) NEVER had a personal foul penalty over his entire career !! Jarvis (JUICE) Landry needs to CONCENTRATE on whats important!! He also had a HUGE BLATANT DROP (between the numbers with his chest facing the QB for a 20 yard gain and a first down) upon a THill miracle of a ((((broken-play)))) Flea-Flicker !!, LOVE LANDRY, but mannn he's gotta control his emotions (after the whistle)!!

BUNCH'A DROPS (two of'em on what would have been 50 plus yard TD's to beyond the D wide-open receivers, Fumble after a catch for a first down in NY's redzone on the first drive of the day, OL illegal procedure penalties on first down, etc, etc, etc !! Same Ole Shit that THill has zero control over, and takes all the grief for !!!!

Dallas Thomas on one play, Billy turner on another, & Jason Fox taking turns at jumping the snap as if they were D players rather than guys that know the snap count, AAARRRGGGGHHHH !!!!!!!!!!

Another time, the entire OL didn't move, only Pouncey & THill could remember the count, SCCCHHHIIIISSSHHHHH !!!!!

Had 100plus yards in penalties, and the majority of'em came at most critical moments that could have led to the Dolphins blowin'em'out, let-alone the TWO BLATANT (TWO HAND) DROPS to receivers that were beyond the defense and would/should have been 50 plus yard THill TD passes !!!

12 penalties for 123 yards and they were legit penalties not the reffs faults, NYG 25 yards on 3 penalties !! NYG, ZERO DROPS, 4 incompletions !! Miller was kickin ass, and for some stupid reason (o16 FA Value??) we shut him down while Landrys a ball hogg that whines when he doesn't get his opportunities !!

Landry had 18 targets caught 11, our RB's had 17 rush attempts !!

The Stills 50 plus yard TD, THill perfectly tossed two others of 50 plus yard TD ((((DROPS)))), therefore THill had just the one TD pass when to no fault of his own he actually Bulls-Eyed three 50-plus yard TDs!!

Even our stars are playin like numbskulls!! RJones blew the OBeckham 85 yarder.. And he made an absolutely great TFL to stop a NY drive in their own territory, but rather than just make the great play, he felt the need to put emphasis on it and tried to rip the gyz head off !! 4th down turns to first plus 15 yards, and NY eventually scores on the drive !! And this practicing of one handed catches in trying to out-do one another has turned into an in game habit of trying to make plays look spectacular (fails) rather than converting an easy play !! Just Plain STUPIDITY !!!

Brent Grimes has become HORRIBLE, burned a bunch AGAIN !!!! Father time isn't allowing him to make up for his stature any more, he's become slow, & indecisive with zero confidence !!

Just takes one of eleven to F every play up, and our 11 on both sides of the ball seem to be taking turns at being that one of eleven on every play !! JUST CAN'T GET OUT OF OUR OWN WAY !!!

GOFINS!!!

I see you are frustrated, lol. But all the same, win as a team lose as a team. It is not just one player it is all the players.

At some point one would hope they pull together, but too many changes, lack of depth and heart, well what do we expect.
OrFinFan (Tony)'s avatar

OrFinFan (Tony) · 486 weeks ago

As you would say, Kenny. "GOOD STUFF! All of it. And you had me do the post game report?

I guess what is really frustrating is that Miami is capable of some great play on both sides of the ball. But mental lapses, foolish penalties and inconsistencies can kill even the best teams.

You can't really expect a team to be consistent when there are so many changes and distractions with the coaching staff. I believe in time, Miami will become a much more consistent and formidable offensive jugernaut, but time is not on their side with only 3 weeks left in the season.

Jarvis (JUICE) Landry needs to CONCENTRATE on whats important!! Ya, like tying his freaking shoe. As you remember this was a very important game for the NEFF household as it was bragging rights with the wife. Even she mentioned about him constantly running to the sideline to either reattach his shoe to his foot or have his shoe tying trainer tie his shoe for him.

I remember OJ McDuff. He was a short little dude. I have his rookie card at home. Reminds me of a member of the "Boy's to Men" group.
"""Ya'like tying his shoe"" LOL : ))

Yea what was that all about, wanting to be on camera ??

It reminded me of when I was 6,7,8,9 years old, my PeeWee team (The Dolphins) & league were in a parade every year.. While marching in the parade each team would get a moment somewhere along the way, several times along the way to run a play.. I was the RB, so I'd take the handoff every time we got to (jog through) our play, but I was a hyper lil-f _ _ _ that wanted to run full speed every where in every moment of my life... So after we'd jog through our play, I'd find a way to untie my shoes so that I could drop behind the parade, tie my shoes and then run the gauntlet at full speed back to where my team was, and I wouldn't simply run up the side of the parade, I'd pretend that every float and person was a defender while zig-zagging my way through to show off my talents, LOL !!

I think that's what Landry was doing, being a ham like me at 6, 7, 8, 9 years old, GIGGGITTTYY!!

Played some ball today with a bunch'a teenagers, still got everything but speed, or a gear beyond a fast walk, which is perfect for a parade ; )) !!

Four teams are tied with us, and four teams are one game behind us with another three teams two games behind us..

Could potentially end-up with a top five pick, (if we weren't to win)..

Gimme OSU DE Joey Bosa (John Bosa's son) to easily replace (in the blink of an eye) CWake who's done until at least late o16 (if not forever) !!

Or the OLineman that I've been hoping will come out for the last two years in
Notre Dames Ronnie Stanley (though not with a top 5 pick unless BA & $$$ are let go)..
LT Stanley would be BA's replacement (which would be a lateral move & not an immediate upgrade), though if BA is kept Stanley can play LG productively until BA leaves, but again a top 5 pick is also too high for a G..

Sure could use Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves III, Iowa's Desmond King, or FSU Jalen Ramsey among other CB/DB with that first round pick..

Bosa would be the ultimate, but he won't last beyond the 5th pick (if that)!!
I'd do whatever it takes to get him, cuz our D sucks without CWake or some sort of trouble-maker opposite of OV & Bosa is a serious to QB's trouble-maker !!
I'd even consider trading THill and then some for the rights to Joey Bosa,
and then with our own first round pick I'd draft QB Paxton Lynch, Connor Cook, or Jarod Goff...

NOT that I'll ever give up on THill, just that I want all fans to like our QB & HC, and a direly needed Joey Bosa (in place of CWake) doesn't often come along while a Lynch, Cook, or Goff (with an OL) might become a THill somewhere down the road...

Besides that, (I just wasted a bunch of effort), cuz knowing Ross, he will probably trade our first round pick for HC Sean Payton who's Offense has become stagnant even with Brees at QB, cuz the league has seen it for 10plus years.. DON'T DO IT ROSS, we need that 1st round pick even in a weak draft's first round, I'll take Joey Bosa all day every day, long before I'd trade his potential rights for HC Sean Payton!! Though again, Joey Bosa isn't likely to fall to wherever Miami ends-up picking !!!

Dolphins promoted 2nd year, 4th round pick (via AZ Cardinals) QB Logan Thomas from the PS to the 53 this week, so I'm guessing we're gonna try to find out what he has to offer in some of these last 3 games, seeing that Matt Moore isn't under contract for o16...

Where ever we end up and whom ever they pick better be a position that we need to address. Secondary is in dire need of repair and so isn't the Offensive Line. But would be nice to pick up a CWake style player to help Suh up front. Would def make that paycheck were paying him worth it.
To Add NFF, I heard rumors Lippet is going to play this weekend due to Taylor choking. I hope this guy works out.

KV, brother, I think Thomas replaces Moore as well. Logan Thomas is actually pretty decent, great back up. I think first and foremost is this team needs to build the oline, I hope they pick nothing but o line men and DBs for the draft. Left some of the FAs go and walk away but keep Vernon. Start young be aggressive and maybe Dan Campbell will still be there.

I just simply hate talking about the draft before the season ends. Seems to be a common issue and trend as of late. So I will stop. Happy Holidays
I hope it's true Thorny. I really liked Lippet in college.
Maybe time to start talking draft picks?
Most of the mocks I've seen have us taking an OLB in the first round, We need hekp there but OL and DB is more critical.
I think that other than multiple picks of DEPTH, and a replacement and/or eventual replacement for BA, our starting OL is OK if not good..

I mean we went without BA the first four weeks and then it took him a few weeks to get up to speed, and then at nearly that same mid-season point Ju'Waun James went down and remained down for the duration.. Which means that our true starting OL hasn't played together but for a couple games out of what will be 16..

(I personally have zero doubt) that Billy Turner (who didn't get the nod till DanC became the HC) & LG Dallas Thomas who also missed games here and there will be legit starters if they're not having to make up for Jason Fox being at either of the tackle spots !!!

Surely they'd be less likely to feel the need to jump the snap, hold, chop block etc, etc if they're playing inside of BA & JJames (for 16 games) rather than JFoxx while overall they haven't done horrible when a play hasn't been nullified due to penalty and is run to it's conclusion !!

If we are to go OL with our first pick, it's gotta be Notre Dames Jr. LT Ronnie Stanley who could instantly start at LT (minus BA), or LG until BA's done !! He'd be a great pick for those who have zero faith in Dallas Thomas cuz Stanley could play LG until BA is done, and DThomas would instantly become viable depth !!

There are other early first round tackle options, but the guy ranked ahead of Stanley (Laremy Tunsel Ole-Miss Jr.) has an injury history (that I wouldn't want to hear the fans scream about), and the third likely option (Sr. Taylor Decker Ohio St) is too tall and has trouble getting under the defender but is very good otherwise...

So I believe that unless a legit LT falls to us with our first pick, and/or BA and his dollars are released we won't pick an OLineman with that first pick!! But we do however need to make several later picks at OL for reasons of depth!!

Yea there are a couple really good LB options to be had with our first pick, and Notre Dames OLB Jaylon Smith is the only one I'd fiercely pursue as he's the most ready for the NFL!!

Another OLB Myles Jack UCLA is also very special but as a Dolphin fan who's seen too many injured draft picks come our way, I wouldn't go after him cuz he's recovering from November meniscus surgery while his college HC (Jim Mora a former NFL HC) recommended to him that he stay another year... So we won't be picking him in the first round though maybe in the later rounds cuz he'll surely fall big time due to the injury, but would be a first round pick minus the injury... He should listen to his coach, recover, play another year in college and perhaps be an o17 first overall pick !!

Bama's ILB Reggie Ragland could potentially be a first pick option for us, but he's not quite as special as Bama's previous ILB first round pick of CJ Mosley..

I really like CB's Vernon Hargreaves Florida, and Jalen Ramsey FSU for our first pick!!

And of course my absolute first choice (if available though unlikely) would be CWakes immediate replacement without missing a beat Joey Bosa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's been my number one o16 first round target for two years as I've watched CWake fading toward obscurity !!!!

CWake will be 35plus by the time he's able to return from an achilles which will surely minimize his explosion abilities, and we definitely can't count on Dion Jordan who'll be returning from a year long suspension and is one mistake from a life long suspension!!

Especially If OV gets away ??
We have to do whatever in the world it takes to land Joey Bosa !!!!
Bosa AND OV together would be as good as o15 was supposed to be at rushing the QB (for the next decade)!!!!!!

GOFINS!!!
Miami's Dolphins haven't won a SB since leaving the Orange Bowl, and I've forever suggested that we are ""cursed"" as oddity's have always seemed to take place at the most inopportune moments since leaving the OB !!

Though, I became aware of this fact just today !!

Can you say POLTERGEIST ?? http://www.wsvn.com/story/30191385/miami-historia...

We may be FOREVER DOOMED !!

Our opponents did not like playing in the Orange Bowl because the seating was very close to the benches thuse, the crowd noise was distracting. The screaming and white towels worked:))
Just watchded the Beaznis beat the Cowboys and every time I see the Jets win this season. I think about what could have been and that is Todd Bowles as our HC. He went 2-1 as our interim HC after Sparano uncluding a win over NE. He wasn't seriously considered for various reasons I'm sure. The players broke their butts for him. Get the picture?
