Miami Dolphins Pick Thirteen Thru 231 Draft Scenario's

The menu's most popular main courses of which you can load your plate with just one of have been brought to the table. Those delicacies from the top of the list down include.

1) RB Ezekiel Elliott

2) CB Vernon Hargreaves III

3) OL Ronnie Stanley

4) OLB Darron Lee

5) DE Shaq Lawson

Obviously.
If none of these above guys are available or taken at #13,
( or if The Dolphins trade down beyond reach of said players )?
Most all other players mentioned could still come into play at some point.
Meanwhile, there are a total of 1001 draft eligible prospects for consideration, with only 253 draft selections, and the rest will become Un-Drafted Free Agents!

A mind melding obstacle course in search of treasure is printed on the place-mats to occupy the rambunctious types. On this particular scavenger hunting maze one will enter from the easily accessible exit where the potentially attainable pot of gold is located from route 13. However. The fortune swooped-up upon entrance requires a multitude of tools gathered along the way in order to efficiently navigate the prize back to Miami as well as for the treasure to maintain it's total value.

So. In a fatherly attempt to keep the savages at bay and with the aid of a trusty invisible inked crayon, I've taken it upon myself to map out the most desirably lucrative courses toward the ultimate destiny.

Now comes the moment when one's preferred taste of delightful accompanying side dishes becomes a free for all to dig into while your pallet will crave at least a spoonful of everything offered.

Here are the various options of cheese that one might want to sniff-around the maze for, come draft dayzzz (Thursday - Saturday).

Potential Options Five;
PK.

13) DE SHAQ LAWSON ( Awesome ) Lawson as well as most of the rest

42) RB DERRICK HENRY

73) OLB SU'A CRAVENS

107) G JOE DAHL

147) CB SEAN DAVIS

186) RB KEITH MARSHALL ( See option Two emboldened explanation )

227) ILB TYLER MATAKEVICH

231) OT CALEB BENENOCH

Potential Options Four; ( Great Results )

13) OLB DARRON LEE

42) OT GERMAIN IFEDI

73) RB C.J. PROSISE

107) G CHRISTIAN WESTERMAN

147) CB JONATHAN JONES

186) ILB TYLER MATAKEVICH

227) TE JERELL ADAMS

231) QB JEFF DRISKEL ( Whats this, KV drafted a QB )? Twice?!

Potential Options Three; ( Doin Back-Flips )

13) OT RONNIE STANLEY (Took forever to get Stanley at 13). OT Jack Conklin at 13 ?

42) RB DERRICK HENRY

73) DE SHILIQUE CALHOUN

107) CB ZACK SANCHEZ

147) OLB JOE SCHOBERT

186) RB KEITH MARSHALL ( See option Two )

227) QB JEFF DRISKEL

231) G SPENCER DRANGO

Potential Options Two; ( Extremely close call versus option one ), GOODSTUFF!

13) CB VERNON HARGREAVES III ( Best Pure CB in the draft )!
CB William Jackson III, Eli Apple & Mackensie Alexander were never the top CB offered to me at 13. I'd strongly consider them in a four spots trade down scenario and still have the potential opportunity to land the other prospects in this option two layout. ( See Bottom; Trade Possibility )

42) RB DERRICK HENRY ( Second best RB option in the draft )

73) DE JONATHAN BULLARD

107) G ISAAC SEUMALO

147) S TYVIS POWELL

186) RB KEITH MARSHALL ( Miami needs a speedy complement to pick #42 Derrick Henry and/or Jay Ajayi) while the nicely sized Marshall is the drafts fastest prospect.

227) ILB TYLER MATAKEVICH ( Though I strongly doubt that he'll be available at this point of the draft, or as late as he was landed in any of these scavenger hunts, but he was available when I did these particular mocks.) Probably have to go after him quite a bit earlier. If we want him? And I do, while I'd have gladly picked him earlier in every scenario had he been listed somewhere in the 4th or 5th rounds!

231) OT CALEB BENENOCH ( Could very well surprise ).

Potential Options One; ( Though option Two is every bit as intriguing )!

13) RB EZEKIEL ELLIOTT ( Best All-Around RB in the draft ), and complementary dishes.

42) OT JASON SPRIGGS

73) OLB SU'A CRAVENS

107) G CHRISTIAN WESTERMAN

147) S MILES KILLEBREW

186) CB JUSTON BURRIS

227) CB BRANDON WILLIAMS

231) DE JASON FANAIKA
( The Steal of these mocks ), he was there so I took him!
Probably have to land him quite a bit earlier.

It is just how the cheese soaked chips fell into the salsa.
All five options turned out to be quite delicious while any one of, or any variation of all the above could spell playoff dessert or even SB. Note that it wasn't spelt out here. That may come after the results and 3/4ths of the 2016 season?

After all. It is just a fantasy draft versus the computer. With the NFL geniuses making the calls for all 32 teams! The timely delivery of side dishes are highly likely to offer an entirely different type of buffet than that which was provided before the 8pm dinner bell.

The above scenarios are all straight-up picks at selection 13 and throughout.
All in all, just 34 individual names to target have been brought to this table.

With eight picks, I'd be stoked to land just three of the 34 provided!
Which individuals and/or combinations of options would most wet your appetite?

CB's William Jackson III, Eli Apple & Mackensie Alexander Potential Trade Down Scenario;

The Numbers work out accordingly ( on draft trade value chart ) in this trade down option..

Miami #13 & 5th round #147

for

Atlanta #17 & 3rd round #81 & 4th round #115

Equates to;
Dolphins four spot drop in 1st,
gain a third rounder at pick #81,
gain a forth round selection at #115,
and forfeit 5th round pick #147..

Do that and still get William Jackson III, Eli Apple or Mackensie Alexander at pick 17, works for me!!

Though I'd still take EZ if at 13!!
Unless I'm guaranteed Derrick Henry in the 2nd, or CJ Prosise in 3rd!!

If the trade down scenario was for the rights to VH3 at #13,
I'd definitely be interested in trading down to pick #17!!!

Miami Dolphins 2016 Draft Hopefuls At Lucky Thirteen

"The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure. These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur."

"Football is like life, it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority." Vince Lombardi:

The NFL Draft has arrived ( 8 pm EST Thursday 4/28/16 ).
A new star comes into existence everyday, here are a few potential 2016 Big Bangs.

""With the thirteenth pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, The Miami Dolphins select""

7) Eli Apple Corner Back Ohio State ( 6 - 1, 199, 4.34 )
Wanted to open with the awesomeness of Shaq Lawson & his music, but had to keep the numerical preferences in order.

6) William Jackson III Corner Back Houston ( 6 - 0, 189, 4.32 )
Apple & Jackson was a tossup and put together here for quick easy comparison so you can make the call.

5) Darron Lee Outside Line Backer Ohio State ( 6 - 1, 232, 4.46 )
Not much to dislike here. Tough to put him at 5 he could easily be at 3, but the need is not quite as great as 1 - 4. Alternative option Reggie Ragland Alabama MLB ( 6 - 1, 247, 4.62 ).

4) Ronnie Stanley Left Tackle and/or Guard Notre Dame ( 6 - 6, 312, 5.18 )
Backup plan Jack Conklin OT/OL Michigan State ( 6 - 6, 308, 4.98 ).

3) Shaq Lawson Defensive End Clemson ( 6 - 3, 269, 4.62 )
Liking this guy a lot, Diggin'Da'Beat too! Note what Ronnie Stanley suggested about him.

2) Vernon Hargreaves III Corner Back Florida ( 5 - 10, 204, 4.46 )

The song suggest ""TOUCHDOWN LIKE MARINO""! So, MAYBE VH3 is LUCKY THIRTEEN?

1) Ezekiel Elliott Running Back Ohio State ( 6 - 0, 225, 4.45 )
YEA BABY, TURN-IT-UP ""ZEEEEEEEEEE""!!

Who'Ya'Got in or beyond this group for the 2016 Miami Dolphins draft pick Lucky Thirteen?

The Miami Dolphin's Problems Start Up Front

Sentinel reporter Omar Kelly came across an interesting stat this week. When Mike Pouncey, Ja'Wuan James, and Branden Albert have all three started and completed games, Ryan Tannehill is 6 and 1. The guard position in Miami is constantly trashed by fans and the media, but reality tells a different story. It's the big guns, the first round draft picks who cannot stay on the field and are having the greatest effect on the win/loss record.

The constant search to find answers at the guard position never works because it’s the wrong problem. The issue is the same since Jeff Ireland became the GM in Miami. Injury prone players unable to get on the field or stay on the field. In two years the three first round picks, Albert, Pouncey and James have played a total of 7 complete games together!

In those games, the Miami Dolphins played elite football.

The lone Miami lost was a last minute defensive collapse to the Green Bay Packers. Dallas Thomas and the-guard-of-the-moment on the other side are continually asked to play out of position or line up next to second and third tier players. It needs to be announced in bold letters...

THE BIG 3 CAN'T STAY ON THE FIELD.

If the Dolphins are going to start winning football games, this needs to be addressed, now.  Fix the dynamic causing losses instead of using scapegoats to disguise the inability to keep high priced talent on the field.

There are certainly other needs on this football team, a corner, a linebacker, a good RB but in the big picture, these are luxuries. GM’s make picks to check little boxes associated with a successful draft.

Starter Box - Check
Need Box – Check
BPA Box – Check

All to say they drafted well, but not fixing the problem. The truth is, the Dolphins brass either doesn’t understand the issue or is unwilling to come to terms with reality.

Pouncey had hip surgery again this off-season, Albert came off his umpteenth surgery last year and is ripe for another injury, and James is coming off a dislocated toe. These are all-pro caliber players, but they can't stay on the field.

(James gets a pass because every NFL player will get injured at some point.)

All this draft talk about CB, LB, RB & DE is missing the reality that Miami needs to finally make the right moves to fix this OL.  The problem is not at the guard position. As outlandish as it sounds, trading both Mike Pouncey and Branden Albert right now when they have 1st or 2nd round value may be the best move the Miami Dolphins could make to fix this team.

Offensive lineman in the NFL must be powerful players who can handle the grind of being pounded for sixteen games. This is the downfall of the zone blocking scheme, it requires athleticism and exposes the legs of large men to defensive linemen trying to hurt them. This was the Philbin scheme and it does not work as well as many, including this author, had thought.

The very first step in solving any problem is a clear understanding of what the problem is. The NFL has a curious dynamic, it repeatedly awards players like Pouncey with pro-bowl selections when the team he plays on underperforms at the very position he is being rewarded for. For this reason, no one is certain whether Ryan Tannehill is a franchise QB. Tannehill is 6-1 with his starting OL intact, this is not the fuzzy logic of pro-bowl selections, these wins and losses are real.

Albert Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” It’s time to stop the insanity and wash away the stench of Jeff Ireland from the Miami Dolphins. The place to start is on the offensive line, stop believing Albert and Pouncey will somehow overcome the injury bug.

Sadly, if this is not cured we may never know what Ryan Tannehill could have become and the Dolphins will remain an NFL also-ran.

Approaching the draft with a willingness to trade these two players and selecting their replacements sends the clear message, the Dolphins finally understand the true issue and are committed to fixing it. Acknowledge the simple axiom, availability is an ability and on an NFL offensive line, it may be the most important ability. Move this trait way up on the reasoning scale when selecting linemen and get a group that can grow together and stay together.

Save the EZ’s and the VH3’s for teams that can afford luxuries…

Bring in the big fella’s and stop the insanity!

Miami Dolphins Score First Round Talent At Corner Back.

Upon nearing the end of the 2014 collegiate football season my favorite corner-back target for the Miami Dolphins 2015 first round draft pick was Ifo Ekpre-Olomu of Oregon. In residing on the West Coast from 1975 through 1998 I've always been a fan of Oregon Ducks football as (like myself during my Pee-Wee through High School days as a CB/WR/RB). They were (for the most part) an extremely athletic smallish-type player team while also being very quick and/or fast though quite able (especially over the last decade) to compete with the big boyzz as I watched on a weekly basis for the last 40 years.

The Ducks were in the 2014 College National Championship and Ekpre-Olomu was a huge reason as to why. He was a consensus first team All-American standout for the 2013 & 2014 seasons. He was also a semifinalist for the (Ronnie) Lott (IMPACT Trophy), Chuck Bednarik (Best Defensive Player) as well as a top three finalist for the Jim Thorpe (Best Defensive Back) Awards in 2014. He had contributed over four years in forty consecutive games for the Ducks while starting every game of the previous three years going into that National Championship game.

During practice on the week leading up to the 2014 National Championship he blew his knee out which eliminated him from first round consideration in the 2015 draft to be held just 4 months later. He was a first round lock minus the injury, but even though he was likely to be an absentee NFL player in 2015. The Cleveland Browns drafted him in the seventh round if they didn't steal him, as most suggested that he was a good third round option (due to ability/upside) even with the injury . He did indeed miss 2015's entirety and come opening day of the 2016 season he will be 21 months removed from the injury while rehabbing the knee over that same time frame and at this moment he is nearing 100%.

The Browns have again changed Head Coaches this past off-season, and like most every other team that takes on a new leader. The new guy has no ties to what previously existed and would prefer his success to come via the players that he has chosen in order to claim full credit for the team that is being built. The Browns cut Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (5-9. 195) this past week and Miami was quick to jump on the free agent opportunity of landing a 22 year old 2015 first round prospect who when healthy is a lock at one of three Dolphin starting corner-back positions. Ifo has great athleticism, instincts, quickness, ball skills, intelligence, with strength versus the run game as well while coming to Miami as a waiver-wire barGAIN.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu # 14, WELCOME TO MIAMI !!

Thank You for an Open-Minded read, and we look forward to your angle of view : )) !!
