You Tell Me: Should The Miami Dolphins Keep Tony Sparano Or Fire Him And Bring In Bill Cowher

It's time for "You Tell Me" Tuesday.

Today's question is, would you rather the Miami Dolphins keep Tony Sparano as the head coach of the team, or would you rather they go after Bill Cowher and fire Sparano?

Like always, I won't influence your opinions at all. Just leave a comment with exactly what you want Miami to do and what you think they will do.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Please fire him and dan henning last I checked head coach has final say on play calling and he allowed dan henning to give us the worst play calling and worst offense in the nfl. This is miami we are flashy and known for are beauty so why is getting teeth pulled better than watching the dolphins with the ball. Promote mike nolan to head coach get us a ne offensive cordinator that wants to air it out and put points on the board. Keep henne as a second string and get a competitive want to win QB. Get a real speedy reciever not hartline to complement marshall and bess and a reggie bush style running back to complement are power run game
If we can get Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, Fisher if he comes available,or maybe Harbaugh then I say go for it. This team needs a up to the minute coach with fresh ideas for the NFL at this time. We don't have that right now. If Boss Ross keeps Sparano and Ireland they will get no more free passes from me.

I don't care what we run into next year injuries, bad calls, who cares. No more excuses for them starting today. If Sparano wants to stick with Henne and Henning then he can fall on the sword and except what happens that's his problem.

So if Boss Ross wants to fire him I hope he has a nice life if not then get this team in the playoffs next year. Enough of this BS....
hell out with Sporano, Henning and Henne. In with Cowher

sporano needs to find a o line to coach. henning needs to find a palm tree to sit under. henne needs to head back north.

ps
mr. ross fire all the o coachs
Quick, name the last coach who won a Superbowl with different franchises. Can you? Probably not. That's because it's happened what once? Never? Cowher and Gruden already got theirs. Harbaugh likes the college game too much to leave. Stick with Sporano.
Fire in this order, Henne, Henning and Sporano. The Dolphins need a franchise Q.B. in the worst way. They threw maybe what? one pass longer than 30 yards this season. Oh Yeah an explosive back that can break a run and actually outrun someone would be a help also. They wallow in mediocrity. I'm sick to my stomach.
The Dolphins are not a bad team and did beat the Vikings, Packers and Jets this season. Last year they drafted all defensive players, this year they need to draft all offensive players and hire someone to teach the backs to catch an interception now and then. The Dolphins are close though and Sparano should get one more year.

Just like my favorite movie "Animal House" - Sporano - Dead man, Henning - Dead man, Henne - Dead man, come on Ross get with it, no more drama - bring in Coach Cowher.
If you bring in Coach Cowher, you won't need a GM. You may have not liked him but you surely respected him. So he's been away from the sidelines for some time now. He has been in touch with the game, though. Remember, he was the Special Teams Coach with the Chiefs before taking the Steelers job. Even as Head Coach, did you ever see bad Special Teams with the Steelers? No. He believes in running the ball as you have to for success in the NFL. His teams could air it out, too. If he decides that Miami is not for him, Jon Gruden would also fire them up. If Stephen Ross decides to keep Tony Sparano then he should put the fear of God into him. Mediocrity is not an option. Don Shula spoiled us all by leading the Fins to so many victories and titles. He only comes along once in a lifetime. I remember the story during his first training camp when he yelled at Larry Csonka becaause Zonk was not correctly lined up in the backfield and thus, could not pick up a blitzing Linebacker. We need that kind of detail to get back to the next level where we belong. Is Tony Sparano the answer? If not, bring in Coach Cowher or Gruden.

Ok, just my opinion, but even though it seems most fans are calling for Sparano to go, I tend to disagree. Using Cowher as an example, they would have to pay the balance on Sparano's and Ross's contracts (since apparently if one goes, both go) AND whatever Cowher would require (and these costs would likely be passed onto the fans through increased ticket prices). Bringing in a new HC and GM would mean yet another change in team style and philosophy-something that takes years to implement. It also took Cowher 14 years in Pit before putting together a championship team. He isn't a magician, after all, and we as Dolphin fans should know that bringing in a big name HC with a history of success does NOT equal even a Super Bowl appearance (remember Jimmy Johnson?) Same could be said for the other big names floating around out there (Gruden, Fisher, Harboagh)

***Sorry, typo! I meant of course Sparano and Ireland! NOT Sparano and Ross lol!***

We also should keep in mind what Ireland and Sparano HAVE done for this team since 08. Transforming a 1-15 team to Division Champs in one season, bringing in a LOT of very talented players, securing young talent, etc. Other than one misstep in drafting Henne as the supposed qb of the future, they have done an overall good job bringing in talent to a franchise lacking pretty much any talent at all! Yes, they could have drafted Ryan or Flacco instead of Jake Long, but Long will be making his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance this season-every season since he went pro! He may not be as flashy as a qb, but it certainly didnt turn out to be a dud pick!

Henne is only one of two QBs starting for their team this season who were taken in the second round. They've wasted too many picks on second round QBs hoping for a diamond in the rough-its time to use that first round pick properly. If possible, they should bring in a vet QB in free agency and keep Henne as backup. I believe with proper coaching he MAY develop into a very good and capable QB-he certainly has shown moments of potential. I tend to think his weaknesses can be overcome with proper coaching and training, rather than a lack of talent and ability. But he DEFINITELY is NOT ready to be a permanent full time starter in this league, nobody can argue with that. Henning will likely retire, Nolan will be offered HC positions (hopefully he won't go, but it seems likely he will). Do you really want to bring in a new HC, GM AND OC and DC AND a new QB?!? Then expect this team to actually compete in the near future? By the time the new regime is able to get their systems in place, much of our excellent young talent will either be too old, too banged up, retired, or on another team....

Hmm. proper coaching is a interesting term. What makes you think any of our QBs are getting that with the guys that are in place at this time ? Has this staff proven they know what to look for in a collage QB, and can they teach up the guys they chose ? The answer to those 2 questions is no, and they have in their short time here a track record to prove it ala Henne and White. This coaching staff also tore apart a oline that was much better then what we now have.

I don't know about you, but allowing this staff to find another QB in the draft and then develop him sounds like the definition of a moron in charge of the team.

Also head coaches no longer get years to rebuild a team. There are plenty of teams turning things around in 3 years here are a few at this time. Falcons, Saints, Chiefs, Jets, Rams, Bucs, and the Ravens ( remember 3 years ago they had 4 wins for the season and lost to Miami in overtime ) So those days of taking years to rebuild are gone.

I'm in favor of saying goodbye to Sparano IF he can be replaced with a proven winner, and Cowher or Gruden are proven winners. As for the other coaches mentioned Fisher or Harbaugh, staying with Sparano is a better idea than either of them IMO.
Gary Kubiak was an excellent OC at Denver before taking the HC job with Houston. I suspect his demise this weekend or next Monday. He is a QB and knows how to do it. Things in Denver went south for Shanahan after Kubiak left. I recommend him for OC.

listen people if we all agree that henning stinks at off . coach well if they bring in a new head and off .coach and run the football consistently. then i think that will open up the pass and henne will be a successful QB in this League. we can all agree that that henne shows flashes of a solid QB .. and that the horrible play calling was one of major issues there. find a system that fits henne and run with it GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FINSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS .................. HIRE COWHER PLEASE!!!!!!!

Henne was the reason the long time coach of Michigan was fired. Now Henne is in Miami different team same results ? Who knows. I don't think Henne is solid at any time, when he looks good it's because he's getting no pressure at all. If he gets even a little pressure he is finished for the day, the guy can't play at this level the sooner we move on from him the better.
Riverdog i couldnt agree more! get rid of henne. henning is gone = GREAT. If they could grab cowher or gruden that would be great also. not a fan of sparano. the reason we made it to the playoffs and going 11-5 a few years back is because of Pennington. he is very accurate. not a huge arm but is smart. sucks he gets hurt easily. henne is INT machine.

GET RID OF SPARANO NOW SO THAT FORMER COACHES AROUND THE LEAGUE WILL KNOW THAT MIAMI IS IN THE HUNT FOR A NEW COACH, AND A GENERAL MANAGER AT YEARS END. IF DOLPHINS KEEP SPARANO THE STADIUM WILL BE AS EMPTY AS A MARLINS GAME. WHAT THE OWNER WILL END UP LOOSING IN TICKET SALES WILL END UP BEING MORE MONEY THAN A GOOD NEW COACH WILL COST. DOLPHIN FANS WILL NOT KEEP BUYING TICKETS TO WATCH A LOOSER. WE BRING IN REGGIE BUSH AND DON'T EVEN USE HIM THE WAY HE IS MOST DANGEROUS.
CLEAN HOUSE NOW AND SHOW THE FANS THAT YOU CARE.
