With all of the Dolphins faults: a draft with barely one player contributing, an offensive line that was previously dysfunctional, running backs that seem clueless from time to time, and a player that threw the Dolphins players and management under the bus and created a turmoil the likes of which I have never seen in all my years of being a Dolphin fan. Through it all they have persevered.
Even though Joe Philbin is about as exciting as watching grass grow, he has this team playing at its best when it counts most. I have no idea how he has done that, nor do I care. I just know that Philbin has his players thinking they can beat anyone they play. If the Patriots come here unprepared they are going to have their asses handed to them (I can't believe I said that!), but that is the feeling that I have at this time.
The Dolphins are bringing excitement back into pro football for all Dolphin fans. The Miami Dolphins are back from the dead. The weekends don't come fast enough. Sunday mornings seems to last a week. For God's sake, stop all the talk and move the kickoff up to 10:00 am.
So tell me Shouters are YOU on board?

You didn't say this in your reply, but I feel that you think this team will go as far as Tannehill can take them. If so, then I agree with that. The Dolphins ride on Tannehill shoulders. Isn't that the way it is in today's NFL ?

And considering we were either leading or staying close to teams starting the third quarter in 5 of the 6 losses we had and how much we lost those games by, it does appear we are capable of competing. Even the Saints game was still winnable until the turn over bug hit us in the third quarter. We are finishing games better and actually scoring in the fourth quarter which would have made the difference in some of those earlier contests.
And that is another thing you guys pointed out. The TD's to INT's ratio. The last time we had a better TD to INT figure was when Pennington was our QB in 2008. And all those sack/fumbles of Tannehill that took place earlier in the year. You haven't seen any of those lately, either.
I believe Miami is starting to peak at the right time for the playoffs. I agree with Patrick that Ryan's accuracy on the deep pass can use some improvement. Especially with Wallace, but that will come with opportunities. Tannehill hasn't had much trouble hitting Hartline or Clay in stride, though. As a matter of fact, Miami currently has more pass completions of 40+ yards than New England. (10 to 8, respectively).
Imagine what he can do when the protection finally stabilizes and improves in critical situations. (With 47 sacks, it is a wonder he isn't too banged up to play at this point). He will only get better with time and has still hit the top 10 QB's list, (#10) despite his offensive line. If he averages 230 over the next 3 games he will reach the 4,000 yard mark. Ryan is currently averaging 255 passing yards per game, and there is nothing that looks like it's going to get in the way with his next three opponents. The Patriots are ranked 16th against the pass. (We are 13th now).
And that is the only thing I like about the west coast, Dog. All the (EST) 1:00 PM games are at 10:00 AM, here. Don't know if I'd like having to get up at 7:00 AM to watch them play. But I know how you feel. I anxiously await each game, too.
Philbin seems a little stiff and reserved for a HC, though he does possess a sense of humor. Have you guys heard some of his after game locker room speeches? I'm hoping he loosens up more in time.
Go Dolphins!

Joe Philbin is about as exciting as watching grass grow I really enjoyed this Dog All though I still have doubts about him I have to say that he has done a great job handling the locker room problems and keeping the team focused. I do still think there are some coaching issues to be addressed. I will say this if Rossass keeps Ireland and lets Philbin go I might just have to hang up my colors(not really)

When the Dolphins were searching for a new HC. I remember that Ireland and Ross liked different candidates. I believe that Philbin was liked by Ross more than by Ireland. Although I am unable to remember if that is correct.

I no longer will have my brother to talk too about the Dolphins. We talked almost daily and I will miss it greatly. I no longer will have the ability to disagree with what he thought the Dolphins needed to do. No longer will have him my fantasy football league.
RIP Riverdog!
