Brian Daboll Is At Least A Good Coach For The Miami Dolphins Running Game

While we may question some of Brian Daboll's credentials as an Offensive Coordinator, one thing we can be somewhat assured about is his ability to put together a good running game.

It surprised and angered a lot of Miami Dolphins fans when Daboll was hired as the Offensive Cordinator, and they were upset for good reason. Daboll doesn't have a successful track record as an OC in the NFL, so the decision to hire him obviously came into question.

While I am not sure how good the offense will be next season, I am, at least, pretty sure that the Dolphins will have a good running game. Whoever Miami does bring in as the main running back, Brian Daboll will be able to make him successful.

Daboll turned the little-known Peyton Hillis into one of the best backs in the NFL despite not being one of the fastest, so why wouldn't he be able to do something similar in Miami?

Daboll will probably end up having a better known running back than Hillis at the beginning of next season, but that back should be able to do just as well as Hillis did, and maybe even better.

As much as I would rather the Dolphins get a quarterback with their first pick, I am excited to think about what Mark Ingram would be able to do under Daboll's leadership if the Dolphins do end up drafting him 15th overall.

If Daboll can turn a relatively unkown running back into a premeire back, what would he be able to do with the best available back in the draft?

That's it for now, what do you guys think about Brian Daboll? Are you at all excited about what the running game will look like next year? Let me know with your comments.

The Miami Dolphins Will Hire Brian Daboll, But Who Is He?

Say Hello To Your New Offensive Coordinator
Well, I used to think that Brad Childress was the worst possible candidate for the Miami Dolphins Offensive Coordinator opening, but now I could be wrong.

Brian Daboll, who the Dolphins are going to sign within the next 24 hours, might just be the worst candidate.

After doing a little bit of research, guess what I found out.

Daboll's offense last year was worse than the Miami Dolphins, so instead of improving upon their pathetic offense it looks like the Dolphins will be getting even worse.

The only bright spots on Daboll's resume were RB Peyton Hillis' success last year and his tenure as the Wide Receiver coach for the New England Patriots when they won three Super Bowl Championships. Other than that, I can't find much else that he has done.

Daboll's offense last year was one behind the Dolphins in scoring at 31st in the league. They were the 29th worst passing team and the 20th ranked rushing team. It baffles me why Miami would be willing to hire somebody who was unable to do any better than who they just got rid of.

The Dolphins have not publicly acknowledged the hiring of Daboll yet, so there is still an extremely slim possibility that they won't actually hire Daboll, but I doubt it.

I'll be honest, I may be overreacting a little bit. Daboll got a chance to learn under Bill Belichick from 2002 to 2006, so he probably learned some good stuff while with the Patriots. He also didn't have much to work with this year in Cleveland because the Browns weren't exactly stacked with talent.

With all that considered, I still can't see why Tony Sparano, Jeff Ireland, and Stephen Ross would be willing to hire Daboll. Daboll might be able to build a successful running offense, but that isn't what Stephen Ross wanted. He wanted a better passing offense, and the numbers just don't point to Brian Daboll being the guy that gives Ross what he wants.

I could be wrong, though. Maybe they saw something in Daboll other than just the numbers. I sure hope so, because I hate not being able to watch my Dolphins in the playoffs year after year.

One thing is for sure, I don't expect the hiring of Brian Daboll will help fill any more seats in Sun Life Stadium next year. If anything, it will reduce the number of tickets sold.

All is not lost, though. At least we can be thankful that he will be better than Dan Henning.

Thanks for reading, and let me hear your comments. I know you guys have a whole lot to say about this.

Miami Dolphins Keys To The Game: Stop Peyton Hillis

The Cleveland Browns are coming into town this Sunday to play against the Miami Dolphins, and if Miami wants to win then they need to focus on shutting Browns RB Peyton Hillis down.

The Browns do not have much of a passing game at all. Their top pass catchers, Peyton Hillis and TE Benjamin Watson, aren't even wide receivers. Cleveland has done so poorly this year because they don't have any consistent threats at receiver, which is the main reason they have had to rely on Peyton Hillis so much.

Therefore, if the Miami Dolphins want to beat Cleveland, they will have to focus on stopping Hillis. The Dolphins defense has had to play a lot of supremely talented running backs this year like Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, and Ray Rice, so it isn't like they don't have experience against top running talent.

The problem is that Hillis has a different running style from other top backs. Hillis has an incredible amount of power to go with his speed. Want proof? Just look at the size of his arms:
Those arms are scary, and they just prove how powerful he is. Just imagine trying to tackle him, but that is what the Miami Dolphins defense will need to do if they want to win the game.

Hillis has really broken out this year. Last year he only had 54 rushing yards, but this year he has more touchdowns than every running back in the NFL except for one, and has the ninth most rushing yards.

I am actually pretty concerned about how well the Dolphins will be able to stop Hillis on Sunday. Miami has had certain games this year where they just couldn't wrap up the ball carrier, and I really hope this isn't going to be one of those games. Hillis has the ability to knock over almost any tackler, so it will be scary to see how many Dolphins tacklers he will be able to get past. I'm not saying that the Dolphins defense is terrible at tackling, but they do seem to have moments where they can't wrap up the man with the ball to save their lives.

Thanks for reading, and please comment and let me know what you think Hillis will be able to do against the Dolphins defense. I'll talk to you guys after the Dolphins come out with a win.
