Bill Parcells Has Finally Left The Building

News has come out that Bill Parcells really is gone from the Miami Dolphins and that he will be taping a draft special for ESPN.

This is not one of my conspiracy posts. I believe that he really is gone and that Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano really are in charge now, and I think they will be able to do well. Before, they weren't able to make their own decisions for an entire year. Now, they can start at the draft and build the team the way they want to build it.

I expect that Parcells still talks to Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross, but I don't think he has any more influence on the decisions that the team makes. I could be wrong, but I just get the feeling that we are finally free of him.

Now we are going to see what Ireland and Sparano can do. Those two have been operating under Parcells' shadow, and now it is time for them to show what they are capable of. Hopefully they are capable of something better than what we have seen these past two seasons.

Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think with a comment.

I want to apologize again for the short posts, but I am on vacation and don't have time for anything too long.

I hope hes gone but we wont know until draft day, that first pick should help determine whos making the decisions.
I think it is bad for Miami. Parcell has a great eye to spot talent. Take a look at what he said about Hennie. He mantioned that Hennie would always be an average player in the NFL. But Sparano and Ireland still want to keep Hennie around. I do know Hennie was selected by Parcell. But once in training camp he realized it was a huge mistake of drafting Hennie. He was not wrong. In my books Hennie will always be less than an average QB in this league. I dont know why Sparano and Ireland keep him around

Dean I disagree with you. Henne was Parcells boy, he drafted him and Sparano wouldn't pull him because of respect to Parcells. For that matter TS couldn't do anything for this team, he was Parcells whipping boy so to speak. What ever Parcells said Ireland and Sparano did. Parcells leaving is a good thing.

Now ! If any players stinks up the field or a Coach makes a stupid call they will be held directly accountable to the head coach. Which is the way it should be. Parcells wanted to be a GM, but the truth is the job was to big for him.

Teams need to have a Head Coach and a GM that work together and for 2 years we did. But all that ended last year when Parcells began to feel the heat for bringing Henne here and giving him the starters spot, then having Tony sticking with him when Henne was clearly failing.

So another 3 years went by, and another regime is now in charge. Will this ever end ??
If the players know TS is in charge, that will make a huge difference. If they understand that poor play will not be condoned then so be it. Our team played hard during the Don Shula years because they knew he was the boss and Joe Robbie left him alone. Can our team transform itself back to an intense, productive unit? The players who don't sign up for that should be gone.
Parcells legacy is with the Giants period, he lost me with the pats and jets. Sparano I am sorry never should have been head coach. His specialty was O line and he even screwed that up although there were some injuries. Glad Parcells is gone but as long as Sparano and Ireland are here Parcells won't be forgotten.

Oh boy Shawn I sure hope you are wrong ! Miami is starting over with the same guys in charge I know, but I'm hoping they can finally do things their way and that will make a difference. I think they are on pretty short leash but that's just my opinion, I have no idea if that is true or not.

Parcells didn't do right by these guys. He needed to give them direction but what he did was control every move made on the team. I would say he was the Al Davis of the East. Who for the last 10 years has been a complete boob. I sure didn't think Parcells would turn out the same as Davis but he did.
You hit the nail on the head. Especially with calling Parcells the Davis of the east.

Parcells is nothing but a coward. Let me explain. yes he was a good coach and did well with the giants, but it just was not Parcells that lead the giants to the super bowl it was a collective team effort that did it. And when he was with the jets, pats and miami Parcells could quickly build a decent turn around team but would bail as soon as the team showed signs of falling apart. He would take credit for the highs and bail on the lows. When he came to miami i knew nothing but bad things would come. Sure he made a good choice on a few draft picks and maybe a FA pick up...grats...but maintaining a team he sucks at, which is why he dont spend more then a few years before he cowers and runs. I am glad we get to see what Jeff and Tony can do, and for Parcells...dont let the door hit you!
Maybe Parcells did exactly as he intended to do all along. Maybe his only plan was to teach his 2 stooges how to operate a team in the NFL, and in order to do that he controlled every aspect of the team as Ireland and Sparano learned the ropes. If we look at the way the team will shape up this year there are very few hold overs from just 3 years ago. With the departure of R and R everyone on the offense is gone. On the D side of the ball there are only 3 players left if my count is right.

It was always my contention that the whole team needed to fired, for the Dolphins to turn things around. Because we had nothing but a bunch of whining babys that had some very good talent playing down here. They had no idea what it took to win games. Those teams would fold up late in games and shut down in the month of December. They needed to go like it or not.

The problem is a whole organization was brought in to do that. But it seems to me looking at the way they played last year, folding up in the 4th quarter, and going 0for in the last month of play. Not much has changed, and I really thought Parcells would get that fixed. I guess not.

No argument from me RD. I also believed that Parcells would change some attitudes but he saw that things didn't work the way he planned and bailed. I hope that he stays with ESPN and does not hook up with another NFL team.
Your posts and articles are always great i always read very carefully because you don't know how much i learned from your posts. Thanks for your great posts.
