You Tell Me: Carson Palmer Or Chad Henne For The Miami Dolphins?

I hope this never happens for the Miami Dolphins, but it is possible so I have to consider the possibility.

A few days ago the Miami Herald suggested Carson Palmer as a possible quarterback replacement for Chad Henne and the Dolphins next season.

My question to you guys is who would you rather: Chad Henne or Carson Palmer for the Miami Dolphins?

I am hoping that it never comes down to this, but it is possible so I want to know who you guys would rather see if these two were the only options.

I like to avoid putting my opinion in the post of a "You Tell Me," but I have to say this. I think it would be a huge mistake to get Carson Palmer. Palmer is fading and would only be a short-term replacement like Chad Pennington.

At least with Chad Henne he has time to improve and develop. Palmer wouldn't get any better. He would just grow older, and that's not what we want. I'm tired of these quick fixes to a major problem. Either Miami stays committed to Henne or they find another young quarterback to develop. Bringing in an old veteran won't help at all.

Now let me know what you think with your comment below. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to a good debate.

Palmer may be damaged goods.
I'm not a Palmer Fan, but I think the team is in a familiar position that I have seen before. When the trifecta came here they drafted Henne with the idea of throwing him into the fire. Then Penny came to us via FA. So he got the nod over Henne.

I see no difference if Palmer came here, and they draft another QB to compete with Henne for the future. Palmer would be the starter and they would groom someone for the future. I still think that is the best way to go. Just because Henne hasn't worked out didn't mean the team took the wrong approach.

I feel Palmer is the best option of any of the QB that could be available.

What really happened because the trifecta screwed up in the rebuild process was it is now 3 years out and the team has many of the same problems it had when they took over. Because they missed on Henne and need to find another QB therefore starting the process all over again.

If bringing in Palmer will allow the team to find another replacement for him and allow the team to get into the playoffs I'm all for him coming here. Could the same thing happen if Henne was in control ? Maybe ! but I don't see him improving.

Yes, Palmer may be damaged goods only because of the Bengals system and the association with Johnson and Owens. He did play better the last two games because the two egomaniaacs were on the sidelines. With the right coaching and system, he may work out but how much will he cost? The Bengals will not give him away. They don't really have another QB as I recall.

Now it seems to me that people thinking palmer is washed up havent been paying attention to the overall demise of the bengals offense the past few years. Palmer would be the perfect fit for Miami, Hes still got 3-4 good years left, hes not injury prone his decline isn't because of his age. Hes a proven veteran, and even with the slight decline the last couple of years if hes put in a new system especially in a warmer climate like miami i dont see why Palmer wouldnt rebound nicely. Would be a good guy for Henne or whatever young QBs end up on the roster to watch and learn from. Although the Bengals will be asking alot for him because they dont want to let him go, this point in Palmers career its not worth giving up too much young talent or draft picks for him. So for the right price I would definitely pursue him would buy Miami some time to get his replacement ready.
WHAT I THINK IS YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF HIPOCRITS LAST YEAR AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON EVERYONE WAS ALL FOR CHAD HENNE NOW YOU WANT TO THROW HIM UNDER THE BUS FOR CRYING OUT LOAD GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO PLAY UNDER A NEW OC, HENNING WAS PLAIN AFUL THE LAST 2 YEARS WE GOT RID OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN GETTING RID OF HENNING LETS NOT GO OFF HALF COCKED AND GET RID OF HENNE TO HE MAY BE A BETTER QB UNDER A NEW OC AND A COUPLE NEW WR AND RUNNING BACKS, ALL YOUR NEGATIVE TALK ABOUT HIM SURE ISIN'T HELPING HIS CONFIDENCE SO LAY OFF GET ANOTHER QB AND LET HIM LEARNFROM A VETRAN LIKE CARSSON PALMER. I KNOW I WILL TAKE SOME HIT FOR THIS REPLY BUT MAYBE IF YOU ARE FIGHTING WITH ME YOU WILL LEAVE CHAD HENNE ALONE
I think Henne is a big boy and is due the flack he is getting. Coming out of college Mel Kiper called it about Henne, I don' like Kiper but he was right. Parcells knew it as well. Granted Henning and o line had issues, but that does not defend Henne's bad decision making and lack of leadership skills. He had two good backs, a fine mentor in
Pennington, a beast wr in Marshall, a speedy slot in Bess who was by the way undrafted and has earned his. For
crying out loud Long played with Henne at Michigan, so Henne had emotional support. Bradford this season other than Jackson had less to work with and had a good season, why leadership and drive. A new oc can't coach
those into Henne, he has to get those himself.
I can't stand the qb situation. I am ready to sign Mr. Magoo to play qb.

I feel your pain :(( But Mr Magoo was priceless. :))
Thanks.
Why not both? We need another quarterback on the team and if Palmer is brought in he would have to compete with Henne. It could make them both better.

couldnt agree more
I'd like to see Palmer as long as the Dolphins don't give up much to get him, other than that, I can wait until Ross gets it and goes out and gets a new GM and HC,

Guys like Jim Plunkett, Rich Gannon and even good ole Brett had great seasons with new teams when they were old. Palmer would benefit from the change of scenery and a young qb could be brought up more slowly. If they are going to commit to henne then spend what you need to get Pennington to retire and be his qb mentor.

I say go with Palmer if there is time to prepare him. Stick with Henne if the CBA is not reached and its eats into OTA's and camp. But i would not trade draft picks present or future for Palmer. Miami has a tendency to trade away 2nd and 3rd round picks for vets and im not in favor of that. Palmer would be a patch for a few years, but i dont think Palmer is worth a future or present 2nd or 3rd round picks. to be honest not having a 2nd round pick this year due to brandon seems to have been a mistake considering miami needs to fill some big holes
Get Palmer, draft Ingrahm. In the 3rd rd draft a TE. Tweak O-line. ahhh...to dream. (Palmer is only temp. or better)

why not..i don't see where palmer is being considered washed up..there is alot of history of old qb's doing good for their teams..kurt warner, or collins are some other names in the mix..we have a good defense, now we need is a qb, and if we up grade with carlson palmer, draft imgram, or draft an oline and keep ricky and brown..

chad pendington was a winning qb, he produced playoff runs for the dophins, but when he got hurt, they wrote him off and forced chad henne in..i don't think he was given a fair chance..
If Palmer comes cheap then bring him here, he is an improvement. But I don't see that happening. The guy that will most likely be available is V. Young and I don't think much of him of myself.
RD,

I agree with you and besides, Vince Young isn't mature enough to handle the job. If you don't praise him then you hurt his feelings. He needs to play in Canada.

He needs to play in the sand box, he not old enough to play in Canada.
How many tmes are we gonna beat this dead horse??? Henne has had more than enuff time to produce numbers! Flacco, Matt Ryan, even Colt McCoy have decent to outstanding 1st seasons... You can clearly see the lack of Henne's play making abilities & decisions!!! What gets me is his lack of passion for the game. Someone needs to light a fire under his rear... Time for Kevin Kolb???
Drop back a few spots in the draft, get additional picks & take Kaepernick

I like that idea. I think Kaepernick will do well in the NFL.
Many players & QB's are thrown into the mix due to an injury ala; Tom Brady & look at what he's done... An NFL player has to be ready when his number's called upon...
Kaepernick's a good kid w/great work habits & attitude... Had a great showing @ the senior bowl, combine & proday.
Faster 40 & more accurate than Newton better touch on shorter throws than Mallet. Gabberts not athletic & slow as a slug.
I think we should trade Tyler Thigpen for Tom Brady and a second round draft choice!
