Miami Dolphins Cheating? Chad Henne and Brian Daboll Have Been Meeting To Discuss New Offense

Yesterday, Chad Henne mentioned to David Neal of the Miami Herald about meetings that he and Offensive Coordinator Brian Daboll had to discuss the new offense. Here is what Henne had to say:
"I've been meeting with him for the last month now. I feel pretty comfortable with what he’s teaching and what the offense is going to be about just in case - who knows what’s going to happen this Thursday? - that I can pass it on to the guys and help the guys out."
Henne apparently had no idea that he was breaking any rules, but he was. Players are not allowed to have any type of organized workout, practice, or meeting of any kind before the start of offseason activities like OTAs.

This can only be bad news for the Dolphins. It means that Henne will likely be teaching the rest of the team Miami's new offense when the CBA expires, and it means that the NFL could possibly penalize either the Dolphins organization or specific people in the organization such as Head Coach Tony Sparano, Daboll, or Henne.

While I wouldn't really like the Dolphins to fine anyone on the team, that type of penalty would be much better than some of the other penalties that the NFL could hit Miami with. A fine would be much better than, say, taking away one or more draft picks.

I am not quite sure how strict the NFL will be in this case because Henne obviously had no idea he was breaking any rules. But, if the NFL is anywhere near as harsh towards teams as they were to the players for dangerous tackles this season, then I wouldn't be surprised if they take away draft picks.

I also am not going to come out and say that this is why the Dolphins shouldn't rely on Henne, because I didn't expect him to do something like this. I actually applaud his efforts to learn the offense and to be ready to teach the team how to run it as well. He is showing a lot more leadership than I would have ever thought him capable of, and I respect him more for what he is trying to do.

I still don't think he should be the starter next year, but it is encouraging to hear him already preparing for next season. I wish he could come out next year and have a breakout season, but I don't see how that can happen after these past two seasons of mediocrity (at best).

Let me know what you guys think about this whole situation. Just when you thought I was done talking about Henne, this comes up.

Thanks for reading, and if you would like to argue about starting or benching Henne next year, I encourage you to go here:

I've always felt Henne has done what ever is asked of him since day 1. So going over the play book with Daboll is not a surprise, at least not for me. I have no doubts Henne is putting forth the effort to become better. IMO his problem is he is what he is ? Henne is the same player here in Miami as he was at Michigan. No more or no less, he is "inconsistint" spelling at best.

That is why no one has any trust in him as a starter. I can't tell you why he is that way he just is. After 30some starts he is still the same as the day he came here. Players need to adjust all the time, if they don't they will only get so far. We are seeing that first hand with Henne
Somebody should fine David Neal for rat'n.

Haha I don't know how well that would go down
I don't see what all the stink was about this ? The players are still under contract and the CBA doesn't expire until the 3rd. Did I miss something ? Isn't it the players job to do there home work in the off season ? What's next ! ! Are they going to be told when to stay in shape also ? I don't get it...

It isn't the worst violation ever, but it is a violation nonetheless.
Basically, the players arent allowed to meet or work out with coaches, and Chad Henne did.
awesome to see henne taking the initiative showing that he wants to help lead this team to bigger and better things. If he knew he was breaking the rules this never would have made the news. I think its safe to assume that dabol did know the rules and this should be all his fault. Adding this as a reason why miami shouldnt depend on henne is wrong. This has nothing to do with trusting him since hes putting forth the extra effort to be better and to help his team be better, he wants to be the leader of this team. Until now that wasnt so evident, anyone that sees negative from what henne is doing obviously has more of a problem with him then just how he has performed. This is a good sign aside from the legal ramifications which as i stated should be on the coaching staff (dabol,Sparano, ross) for one not informing henne of all these offseason rules if he really didnt know, and dabol for going through with it and being a seasoned OC its safe to say that he knew.

phinfan86 you are totally correct with this. I do question where ANYONE said Henne was not trusted because he working out with Daboll ? No one said that !!

The lack of trust in Henne comes from the lack in trust of his play, not in a lack of his trust in commitment to the game or to the Dolphins.

I can only speak for myself on this subject. I don't care what the name reads on the back of the jersey. Nor do I care what the number is on the back of the jersey's. The only thing I care about is the logo on the helmet and the number of wins the team racks up.

If 7 wins is good enough for everyone then by all means let Henne do his thing. At this time that is all we can expect from the Dolphins if he continues to direct the team, and he has a history to back that up. No it is not entirely his fault. But I ask you this or anyone else that may have an opinion on Henne. Name me a team above .500 that would improve if Henne became their QB ?
yeah trust was probably the wrong word to use there. So many articles about henne lately sometimes my thoughts on each one blend together haha. I do agree with what ur saying and like most of you tired of debating about henne. Im just anxiously awaiting the draft so we can all get a better idea of things to come and having something else to debate.
Henne in my eyes is still a rookie and may always play like one.We need to keep our eyes open for a QB that can lead this team into a bright future.

Can someone tell why is Chad Henne still in Miami Please ???? also why does every mock draft has Miami taking Mark Ingram why in the world does Miami need another running back they can trade down and something better if there isn't a Quaterback there ; I am sure if the coach let Henne stink up the field again he's FIRED !!!! before the season in half gear !!!!

Henne is still in miami because hes there best option right now and could remain that next season. Mock drafts have us taking Ingram because we dont have any running backs at the moment. Ronnie is a free agent and williams wants out and ingram would be a smart and logical choice at #15.

Culpepper and then Saben ruined me for the Dolphins. Team just continues to suck. Continues to get 2nd rate QB's players and coaches. I am taking the Dolphins tag off the cars, boxing 40 years of mementos and will just remember the good ole days. Shula, Greise, Strock, Czonka and Kick, Warfield. People who won Super bowls.

I watched Henne in High School lead his team against my High School team down by 21 at half time to come back in win. I watched Henne in the Big 33 beat an Ohio All Star team that wasn’t beaten by the PA All Start team in sometime. I watched Henne rip up my PSU Lions for four years. Every coach that coached him always said that he was a hard worker and will always put in the time. Ever since he was a rookie the reports about him have been about being a hard worker and putting in the time. So the questions about him going the extra time are not valid.
Now talking about the leadership. If he’s not to call his own plays or change them at the line what the hell makes you think that the OLD OC/QB Coach would let him hold his own camp? Like it or not he’s IT this year. Let him do what he has to do and maybe this offence wont struggle as much. If he fails this year then get rid of him. I like the kid he was semi-local high school kid growing up. But I love my fins as well. I support them all the time good or bad. Hell im an Oriole’s fan for god shake. I know about loosing.
Maybe the NFL will do us a favor and suspend Henne for the entire season. Or worse yet, force us to keep him and not allow us to draft a QB to replace his sorry @$$! Stupid Chad Henne....what a moron.
Dolphin is the fish of the features of the intelligence and talent. It is extremely mentioned for the news and all types of the goodness. It is done and reformed for the such conditions. It is liked by most of the citizens of the seas and oceans.
I am sure if the coach let Henne stink up the field again he's FIRED !
