Ryan Mallett and Jake Locker Perform Well At Combine, Good For The Dolphins?

Ryan Mallet and Jake Locker both did really well at the NFL Combine, and I wanted to give you guys a little overview of how they did. I hope you guys enjoy reading this, and please remember to comment with your opinions after reading.

Mallett, in my opinion, was by far the best passer at the combine. He made all of the throws and had the strongest arm of all of the QB hopefuls. I don't understand why he is only considered the third best prospect behind Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton.

He has some character questions, and that should be taken into consideration, but even with those problems I still consider him to be the top quarterback in the draft. He can make more throws than anyone else, and he is the type of player that teammates will rally behind and fight for.

Locker wasn't as good as Mallett, but he did help his stock because he made a lot of tough throws, as well. Locker has been falling on almost everybody's draft radar these past few months, so it was important for him to show up and perform well.

Locker did have some trouble with his shorter throws, which was odd because he did really well on the tougher, deeper throws. He had been having accuracy questions before the combine, and his shorter throws will only add more questions about his accuracy.

All in all, though, Locker improved his draft stock at the combine. He showed that he can throw with the best of this year's prospects, especially later in the drills when he started making the tough throws, and he definitely showed up with a 4.59 40-time. We already knew he was fast, so the 40 yard dash didn't push up his stock, but it is nice to have a faster quarterback.

I, personally, would love for the Dolphins to get Mallett. I believe he is the best QB prospect in this year's draft and that he will turn into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He can already make any throw that he will ever need to make in the NFL, and he is an intense leader that will always come ready to play.

So you heard it here, folks. Ryan Mallett will do better than Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert, Jake Locker, and any other QB prospect in this draft.

Thanks for reading, now let me know who you would like Miami to draft and who you think the best QB in this year's draft is.

I don't know what everyone sees in Newton as for playing QB in the NFL. I'm not sure if I have said this here if so I'm sorry to repeat myself.

Lets look at the type of offense they were running at Auburn. Other than their running plays their passing plays went like this. "Coach speaking" OK Cam we are going to hike the ball back to you in the shotgun and I want you to throw it to the receiver over there on the left side. If he is not wide open I want you take off running and bowl over or run past whom ever is in the way.

It doesn't matter how much tape you watch of him at Auburn "that is what he did". Now I ask, Does that sound or look anything like an NFL offense to any of you ? Cam Newton was never tested his entire 1 year as a starter in College ball. The NFL does not and will not have their QB running that kind of an offense at the pro level.

Look at the problems Chad Henne is having with Miami and he came from a School that ran a pro style offense. The NFL knows nothing about Cam Newton, he has BUST written all over him. If that's the direction Miami wants to go in, then I hope we stick with Henne..

mmmmmmmmmmmm you might just have a point but miami has a pro style quaterback and he sucks , not rain on your parade but didn't this kid win two national championship; one in lower division before he came to auburn and the National championship just gone . Tell something it's not these kids fault when these coaches put them in these offenses that they think are going to keep their jobs safe ????
I think ryan mallett is the best quarterback he is tall strong and can make those throws even though he is slow his arm makes up for it
still say get mark ingram i dont want another QB we have had way to many time for an upgrade in the backfield

I am with you 100%. What Dabol can dol remains to be seen, but judging the last couple of seasons, this coaching staff hasn't shown they can develope a college QB into an NFL worthy player.... Let's stick to basic football here and just get a basic offensive player and use the rest of the draft picks to strngthen the O line.

I agree with 1000%
I don't know what you guys have been reading, but from what I have both Mallett and Locker are both late 2nd or 3rd round. A couple said 4th. So why waste a 1st? I say Ingram 1st then maybe trade up to get a 2nd round pick and go after a qb.

I agree, Ingram 1st. We really need a 2nd round for a qb pick. I broke my wrist last night. Can't write anymore. Mallet would be great if we can get him, but not 1st round.

Why not first round? He is going to be a great NFL quarterback, and I believe he will be a franchise QB for whatever team he goes to. The Dolphins should be able to get him at 15, so why not?

Miami Dolphin has been dodging this #1 Quaterback pick for a long time ever since Dan retired there been nothing but a bunch of Substitute Quaterbacks , it's time to step out of the dark and into the light DRAFT A #1 QUATERBACK or just wait for Andrew Luck next year by that time the Coach will be fired for letting Henne sink them into to the ground AGAIN !!!!!

I agree they have missed on qb's. However this year is a very week year for QB's. Take a good running back-we still don't have one of them-in the first round. Then trade up to the second and draft what's left at QB-it won't be much worse than what was available in the first.
I'm telling you, Mallett is really good. It will be worth spending the 15th overall pick on a franchise QB that could last for 15 years.
