Do YOU Trust This Year's Regime More Than The Trifecta?

I have a great Miami Dolphins debate that I think you guys will really enjoy. I won't take credit for coming up with the idea, though. Riverdog brought it to me.
With or Without?

Anyways, I want to know if you guys think the Trifecta of the past three years (Parcells, Sparano, and Ireland) did a better job than what just Sparano and Ireland will be able to do by themselves this year.

Basically, do you trust the trifecta with Bill Parcells or just the "bifecta" without Parcells?

Be sure to take everything into account: their draft history, their free agent signings, and overall team performance.

The trifecta might have messed up on players like Pat White and Chad Henne, but they also brought in great players like Cameron Wake, Brandon Marshall, and Vontae Davis.

I am, personally, more confident in just Tony Sparano and Jeff Ireland. The problem with Bill Parcells was that he was like an old man set in his ways that rarely changed up what he did. He had a certain criteria that players would have to meet before he considered signing or drafting them, and I don't really agree with that. Sure, you don't want to sign a 150 pound offensive lineman, but it isn't smart to pass up on a really good prospect because he is a couple inches shorter or 10 to 20 pounds lighter than what you want.

Now, I want to know what you guys think. If the discussion gets good, then I won't post anything tomorrow to keep it at the top.

Thanks for reading, now start the discussion.

First of all, until draft day, we will not know what will happen. I believe that the Parcells involvement in the interview of Andy Dalton justifies that statement. Can we trust Sparano and Ireland to make the best choice for the team? Just the two of them, possibly. Lurking in the shadows is the Tuna, still pulling strings and the remaining two are indebted to him for their jobs. So much for objectivity and creative thinking. If this off-season goes bust, that will be the main reason.

Great comment, I will add that Parcells and Ross are buddies.
NO, I don't trust any of these idiots. Miami has become a laughing stock! I miss the days of Shula, Landry, Knox, Ditka, Madden, etc... Those guys knew talent. Ever since JJ, we've blown 90% of all our top picks! Yes, they got a couple of decent players but look at the ones we lost because of poor choices, like Dez Bryant...AND Ireland makes an ass out of himself in the process. He's a classless act. I don't know why our team is so stupid when it comes to recognizing talent. Everyone in the world but themselves knows the entire dolphin regime should go! Even that IDIOT "yes man" Andy Cohen! Have you ever heard him say anything but how wonderful and smart every move the dolphins make was a stroke of genious?? From Olivadotti to JJ to Saben to Cameron to.... and all of the picks like Eddie Blake? Every stupid move was "the beginning of something great" and "greatly needed! He's the reason why I cancelled my Dolpgin Digest sub. WE NEED HELP!! I'll do it for 1/4 of what those dolts make!! Does anyone else see this???
Well we can see how much we vary in how we feel already. I feel your pain guys !!!

I think each of you have your points, and it's tough to argue against any of them. Some of things Parcell's brought here were needed. The way he handled JT his first year here I thought set the tone of the way things were going to be. Then they changed that and resigned him the next year. That made no sense, plus it drove Matt Roth out of town, that situation was so stupid, I could hardly believe it. I have no idea who's idea it was to bring JT back, but for me that was the end of my trust in the trifecta.

I know there is no crystal ball when a team drafts the players out of College. But some of the choices were really brainless. Taking PW in the second round was as bad a pick as the Camarons pick was of TG !! Yet what was even worse than all of that were the failures of the FAs that were brought in, and then let go to be replaced by equally inept replacements. FAs have a history and a team should be able to acquire a high priced FA and know what they have, but the trifecta couldn't do that either.

I don't put much stock into what Ireland asked Dez Bryant last year, to be honest I think that happens all the time. I think Bryant was to inmature to know it and cried his eyes out to some reporter that put it out there. If I'm going make 10 million a year for playing a game I'll tell you what ever you want to hear !! That doesn't mean I told you the truth. Dez was the fool in all that, Ireland was protecting his owners money. That is part of his job also.

I don't think Parcell's has anything to do with the team other than a consultants role. Trying to hid his role from the press is imposable in this day and age, there is no way they could hide that Parcell's is still in control from the press.

For me Parcell's leaving is an improvement. I don't think he recognized the need for speed as much as the need for size in Today's game and that is what we are seeing at this time. As Paul thinks Parcell's is still back in the 80s. It's a new game today. It's all about pressure on both sides of the ball. All I can do is hope Ireland and Sparano know that and go in that direction.

Even though these guys have no tract record of their own. Leaving Parcell's off the wagon is a good idea. If only for the reason that we will know who is calling the shots and who to give credit or blame to...
If anyone trusts this regime they must have been living under a rock all season. They destroyed our offense, they lied about EVERYTHING all season long and are still lying, Ireland cant give a straight answer about anything, Ross pulled that shit with Sparano and Harbaugh before re-signing sparano. How the hell is a team supposed to be successful with the damn circus we have going on with the coaches and ownership day in and day out. Not to mention that d-bag parcells is still hanging around in the shadows whispering in sparano and irelands ears its no wonder they cant make a decision or give a straight answer because they dont know ANYTHING. All of us Miami fans have been given no indication on there possible draft choices because they dont have a damn clue what to do, wouldnt surprise me in the least to see Parcells back with the team before draft day so they dont mess it up and pull another cam cameron and waste another first round pick.

Oh man I can't believe I never even considered any of what you pointed out. YOU ARE SO CORRECT. But I don't think Parcells would be any more forth coming than what these guys are. As I said before we only need to look no further than the JT thing.
Tuna in the shadows still pulling strings. Believe it RD. But, will the two in front show courage and break out of the Tuna tradition? Time will tell.
Before the trifecta came to the Dolphins we were a 1 - 15 team. The very next year we went 11 - 5 and were division champs. Sure they have made a few mistakes, but even at 7 - 9, we have still come a long way baby. Give Tony and Jeff the benefit of the doubt at least thru 2011.
I would have to agree with all of you. Parcell's legacy is large I agree with TX, he still is in the shadows. Paul is right he is set in his ways. Being from Ct. I have had the chance to follow Parcells, trust me he's under the radar. Ireland looks like a deer in the headlights, I don't trust him. And Sparano is not experienced enough to do it without Parcells.
I have made comments in the past about the dynacic duo of Sparano and Ireland, hereinafter to be referred to as(dumb and dumber) and their attitude problem. What I mean by attitude, includes a certain arrogange, highly undeserved, given their pro record holding these titles, and their lack of honesty towards the fans. They have continually addressed their press conferences with a certain scarecity of words as if saying "ÿou our subjects, must be greatfull to us for even addressing you". Arrogance without substance amounts to nothing, that's why I am so pissed off at Ross for not getting rid of the two of them, instead of renewing their contract. I would've probably liked it better if Parcells would've coached at the same time as holding that VP title because at least there would've been accountability, while now everyone is saying, " it was Henning, oh no, it was Sparano, no, wait, it was Henne"" Cooe on already!!! I din't trust them then, and I don't trust them now! I hope I am so wrong, but I have a feeling that the moment we get someoe als Cowhert and rid ourselves of "Dumb and Dumber"" will be a new morning in Dolphin country. There!

I agree with the arrogance part. They seem to think like we fans are meaningless, stupid, and deserve to be lied to. Ireland is more the culprit than Sparano, but Tony also has the most meaningless interviews in the world where he thinks he can just say whatever, so he isn't completely innocent either. I am confident in their abilities to build a team. Jeff Ireland may be an arrogant sunovagun, but I think he knows what he's doing.
Yes Irelands arrogance is gonna get him in trouble and is exactly what miami doesnt need in a gm right now. I know sparano is new to the head coach thing and was hung out to dry when parcells bailed. He has alot to learn but when your team isnt moving forward after an 11-5 season then its a problem. Sparano doesnt know what hes doing we never hear anything from him and paul is right about his interviews being a meaningless waste of time. I think when he agreed to take the job he thought parcells would be there the whole time telling him what to do and making his job easy and now that hes gone sparano is prolly looking for his head coaching for dummies book. It seems that Ireland is just acting like he knows what hes doing but in his interviews he obviously doesnt especially since he keeps lying.
I actually am willing to give the benefit of the doubt to Sparano and Ireland....for another year at least. I like the fundamental approach to the game, and the build of the team using key draft parts and a few free agents. I think Parcell's time has passed him by.....you dont win any more with a running attack and a good defense.....look at Baltimore and the Giants. The game today is very quarterback focused, and those who have one, win, those that dont wont. This is my biggest worry. I dont think that coaches and GM's can do much other than decorate around the edges until the QB shows up and matures. I havent given up on Chad Henne, and realistically there isnt much of anyone else that is a sustainable part like a Brady, Manning the elder or Aaron Rodgers that is available to us. drafting a guy out of college is a multiyear proposition at best and a huge gamble.
As to the original question.....TRUST.....I am not sure where the emotion and rhetoric comes from about Sparano and Ireland and Ross Lying to the fans. so far- and I watch carefully- there have been no instances of lying that havent been traced to some idiot in the media talking to a supposed "inside source" over a drink and printing it as the absolute truth. the entire fiasco with Harbaugh was one toilet conversation after the other, and if reporters got fired for screwing up as often as coaches do, there would hardly be anyone still patrolling the NFL beat!!!
In summary, I like the leadership we have. Unfortunately the media and fans do not have the patience to build a team the way it really should be built.....like the Packers did, and the Colts did, and the Patriots did.....over a period of three or four years where you have to swallow some mediocre seasons and believe in the plan. The worst thing that happened to the Dolphins was the succession of two year tenures of leadership.....Wannstedt, Saban, Cameron, where there was no continuity and the team was torn apart several times. Now lets hope we can actually play some ball. I just bought club seats for 2011, so I am behind the Fins in more than just words on a blog. How'bout you?????

Rey if I were living down there I would still have season tickets. I now live 100 miles away and that may not seem that far but for me at this time of my economic life it may as well be Key West. I can't swing it and the drive even if I could is to far. I did get to the Steelers game this year.

I put the blame on the Harbaugh fiasco on Boss Ross, Ireland, and Peterson. I also think Parcells is to blame for what we saw on the field last year. Sparano didn't make a change with Henning because of his loyalty and fear of Parcells. Everything that happened last year other than the search for TS replacement can be laid at the feet of Parcells. I don't see why many many fans give Parcells a pass on what happened here when he was in charge the entire time.

Parcells old blueprint of ground and pound offense is long over in the NFL. The need for a top defense is just as important as ever. Take a look at nearly all the teams that made the playoffs and you will see they have something in common. All but 3 I think have a QB with a QB rating over 90, and they all have a top 10 rated defense. If our team doesn't have that we are not going to make the playoffs, and almost never make a SB. The running game is no more than a side bar in todays game.

Here is quick recap for the packers running game in the super bowl they had 13 carries for 52 yards. 2 of those carries were Rodgers carries for a -2 yards. So they only ran the ball 11 times for 50 yards and 0 TDs. The QB rating was about 102 from my memory. The game has changed you just don't need a great running game any longer.
Parcells is under the radar in Miami. Ireland looks like a deer in the head lights, Sparano is lost in the sauce. Parcells is the Puppet Master.

loved your comment Shawn... Deer in the headlight? I love it!
Oh my.... how can anyone call going backwards, progress? I have read all kinds of comments on here today, while interesting reading, it is somewhat frustrrating for me as a fan to try to make sense of some of the logic. I remember most people wanted change at the top a few weeks ago and now it seems to be the opposite... maybe due to my advancing age, my memory is failing me or playing tricks on me or, on the other hand, a lot of fans are experiencing football season withdrawal which has them saying things they don't normally agree with themselves. Based on tóday's comments, I seem to be in the minority when I say, I'd like to see Cowhert in here as we wave bye bye to Sparano and Ireland. Enough of the experiment already!

Thanks Lou.
It is not you. Like you pointed out earlier Parcells and Ross are pals. Ross is being influenced by Parcells because Ross doesn't have a football mind, Parcells knows that. I think most of the fans want change at the top,but realize it probably will not come until next year.
