With or Without? |
Basically, do you trust the trifecta with Bill Parcells or just the "bifecta" without Parcells?
Be sure to take everything into account: their draft history, their free agent signings, and overall team performance.
The trifecta might have messed up on players like Pat White and Chad Henne, but they also brought in great players like Cameron Wake, Brandon Marshall, and Vontae Davis.
I am, personally, more confident in just Tony Sparano and Jeff Ireland. The problem with Bill Parcells was that he was like an old man set in his ways that rarely changed up what he did. He had a certain criteria that players would have to meet before he considered signing or drafting them, and I don't really agree with that. Sure, you don't want to sign a 150 pound offensive lineman, but it isn't smart to pass up on a really good prospect because he is a couple inches shorter or 10 to 20 pounds lighter than what you want.
Now, I want to know what you guys think. If the discussion gets good, then I won't post anything tomorrow to keep it at the top.
Thanks for reading, now start the discussion.

I think each of you have your points, and it's tough to argue against any of them. Some of things Parcell's brought here were needed. The way he handled JT his first year here I thought set the tone of the way things were going to be. Then they changed that and resigned him the next year. That made no sense, plus it drove Matt Roth out of town, that situation was so stupid, I could hardly believe it. I have no idea who's idea it was to bring JT back, but for me that was the end of my trust in the trifecta.
I know there is no crystal ball when a team drafts the players out of College. But some of the choices were really brainless. Taking PW in the second round was as bad a pick as the Camarons pick was of TG !! Yet what was even worse than all of that were the failures of the FAs that were brought in, and then let go to be replaced by equally inept replacements. FAs have a history and a team should be able to acquire a high priced FA and know what they have, but the trifecta couldn't do that either.
I don't put much stock into what Ireland asked Dez Bryant last year, to be honest I think that happens all the time. I think Bryant was to inmature to know it and cried his eyes out to some reporter that put it out there. If I'm going make 10 million a year for playing a game I'll tell you what ever you want to hear !! That doesn't mean I told you the truth. Dez was the fool in all that, Ireland was protecting his owners money. That is part of his job also.
I don't think Parcell's has anything to do with the team other than a consultants role. Trying to hid his role from the press is imposable in this day and age, there is no way they could hide that Parcell's is still in control from the press.
For me Parcell's leaving is an improvement. I don't think he recognized the need for speed as much as the need for size in Today's game and that is what we are seeing at this time. As Paul thinks Parcell's is still back in the 80s. It's a new game today. It's all about pressure on both sides of the ball. All I can do is hope Ireland and Sparano know that and go in that direction.
Even though these guys have no tract record of their own. Leaving Parcell's off the wagon is a good idea. If only for the reason that we will know who is calling the shots and who to give credit or blame to...

As to the original question.....TRUST.....I am not sure where the emotion and rhetoric comes from about Sparano and Ireland and Ross Lying to the fans. so far- and I watch carefully- there have been no instances of lying that havent been traced to some idiot in the media talking to a supposed "inside source" over a drink and printing it as the absolute truth. the entire fiasco with Harbaugh was one toilet conversation after the other, and if reporters got fired for screwing up as often as coaches do, there would hardly be anyone still patrolling the NFL beat!!!
In summary, I like the leadership we have. Unfortunately the media and fans do not have the patience to build a team the way it really should be built.....like the Packers did, and the Colts did, and the Patriots did.....over a period of three or four years where you have to swallow some mediocre seasons and believe in the plan. The worst thing that happened to the Dolphins was the succession of two year tenures of leadership.....Wannstedt, Saban, Cameron, where there was no continuity and the team was torn apart several times. Now lets hope we can actually play some ball. I just bought club seats for 2011, so I am behind the Fins in more than just words on a blog. How'bout you?????

I put the blame on the Harbaugh fiasco on Boss Ross, Ireland, and Peterson. I also think Parcells is to blame for what we saw on the field last year. Sparano didn't make a change with Henning because of his loyalty and fear of Parcells. Everything that happened last year other than the search for TS replacement can be laid at the feet of Parcells. I don't see why many many fans give Parcells a pass on what happened here when he was in charge the entire time.
Parcells old blueprint of ground and pound offense is long over in the NFL. The need for a top defense is just as important as ever. Take a look at nearly all the teams that made the playoffs and you will see they have something in common. All but 3 I think have a QB with a QB rating over 90, and they all have a top 10 rated defense. If our team doesn't have that we are not going to make the playoffs, and almost never make a SB. The running game is no more than a side bar in todays game.
Here is quick recap for the packers running game in the super bowl they had 13 carries for 52 yards. 2 of those carries were Rodgers carries for a -2 yards. So they only ran the ball 11 times for 50 yards and 0 TDs. The QB rating was about 102 from my memory. The game has changed you just don't need a great running game any longer.
