How About Darren Sproles To The Miami Dolphins?

The Miami Dolphins are likely going to need to sign, draft, or trade for at least one running back this offseason. Ricky Williams is all but gone, and Ronnie Brown could also be gone.

Because of that Miami will need a new running back. There have been a lot of names thrown around for the job, and let me add another name to the list courtesy of Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post:

Darren Sproles.

Sproles is a small, quick back that could be able to split carries with another running back. He is also a great receiving back who has had more receiving yards than rushing yards in the past three seasons. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry when running the ball last year and 8.8 yards per reception.

Sproles could add a lot to the Dolphins. He is a great threat running the ball, and he adds another dimension as a receiving threat. The Dolphins could keep him and Ronnie Brown, and their two running styles would complement each other very well.

Sproles is very young at only 27 years old, so he has a lot of years left in him.

He is also a great kick returner, which is something Miami lacked last year. So, his value would be amplified even more if the Dolphins got him.

I want to know what you guys think. Would you like the Miami Dolphins to go after Sproles? Let me know with your comments.

Thanks for reading.

I guess we could add any name to this list. One thing for sure there are either not very many good running backs out there any longer or the NFL game has changed so they are not a premium any longer. I think it's the latter of the 2. The game has changed so much. Teams no longer need a running back that controls the game. So the grind it out and pound on the defense mentality has been abandoned to a control the ball with the passing game style. That's the reason the QB position is so important.

IMO I don't see anything wrong with keeping either RW or RB both of them still have value for what a team needs. Ronnie Brown really fits in better because of his pass catching abilities. ( To bad they can't get him the ball out in the flat ) another Henne problem there, he just can't do that for some reason.

I think Sproles would be good for us he has some value. What ever the team does in the RB position we need a guy with speed. I know everyone or many feel Mark Ingram is the guy but I'm not one of them. Don't get me wrong I think he will do fine in the NFL, but he's is no more of threat than Ronnie Brown is at this time. My feeling is just keep RB here and draft a burner/KO/punt returner type guy later in the draft if they can. Then once again don't forget Kory Sheets is still on the roster, Paul will like that remark. :))

wow that couldn't of been put better.
And RD, it all starts with the line that I hope gets some attention in this draft. Yes, the QB needs some, too. Paul will like the comment about Kory Sheets and so do I. Ireland said he is going to improve team speed in this draft. I suspect he will take a page out of the Cowboys' book on that as they seem to go for speed or whatever JJ wants.
Ricky is actually a better back as far as catching out of the backfield not Ronnie.
I am good with Sproles in a Dolphins uniform. He single handly wrecked the Colts in the playoffs a few years ago. I am for keeping Brown he has done his job. Time to see what Sheets and Hillard can do, we have options at running back.

Perfect! That is exactly what I would like to see, too.

there is too much speculations and what ifs..ronnie brown and ricky williams are good backs..there was too much shuffing of the oline last year..thes have corry sheets for a speed back..i would like to see ricky back and still have ronnie brown around, but is not going to happen..
Kory and Ronnie!!! Ryan Mallett pleeeeeeeease!!!
i think cory sheets mark ingram backfeild grab plex to go with marshall both need 2 guys to cover them bess and hartline are going to have a good season. go with henne. get a real qb coach to help him.
Are you kidding spoles for RICKY OR RONNIE it is absurd. Ricky and Ronnie are great backs. If it was not for the horrible play calling by Dan Henning the QC both backs would have had a very productive season. Let Spoles stay with the chargers. He is way too small to carry a heavy work load for an entire season. Don't even suggest this redicoulous notion of bringing in Spoles to replace any of the backs that Miami has at present. If Spoles is hired in Miami the Dolphins would be going backwards instead of moving forward. If Spoles was any good as a back do you think the Chargers would try to get rid of him. Think again and do not mention Spoles in Miami. The person you should be talking of replacing is Chad Hennie.

Oh, so would you have me suggest that we bring Ricky back despite the fact that he has no desire to? We aren't going to get Ricky, so why not get a change of pace back to go with Brown?

Don't blame Henning for all of last year. Most of the time the O line wasn't opening the right holes. I think Csonka & Morris couldn't run with the present O line.
Spoles is a horrible running back. His numbers are inflated because he plays in a week division. A record of 8 and 8 can get you into the playoff in that division. Could you imagine Spoles taking a pounding in the toughest division in the NFL the AFC EAST. With the size he has he will not make it pass the half way mark of the season. Ronnie and Ricky who are large backs over 230lbs have a hard time completing a whole season without injuries. Think about Spoles who is a very small back what are his chances of success in the tough AFC east division.
Sproles wont work, hes fast but hes too small teams like the jets and pats will eat him for lunch. He played in a week division and once LT left his production dropped. Sign Ronnie back and draft Ingram let the chargers keep mini mouse.

Ricky is still a better back than Ronnie. Even though he's burnt his bridges in Miami

I think sproles is the best player the Dolphins should try for. Ronnie is just isn't the answers for the Dolphins he never was. The Dolphins need to upgrade the RB's badly. And Sproles fills many needs for us.
I think they need to try out Kory Sheets and I don't understand why he is not in the conversations within the team. Just shows how great the coaching and manger are

id rather see miami go after sheets then sproles, heck id rather see them go after TIki barber then sproles.
