Miami Dolphins Reportedly Looking To Move Up In Draft

Finally something to report about pertaining to the Miami Dolphins.

According to this tweet by @incarceratedbob, the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots have been the most aggressive in the past two days in trying to move up in the draft.

The Dolphins have scheduled a workout with Blaine Gabbert, so we likely could see them make a push to pick him or Cam Newton.

This is surprising news to a lot of us because we were expecting Miami to want to trade down in the draft instead of trading up to the top 8 range.

A trade up could mean trading future draft picks, which I believe is a huge mistake and an unnecessary risk. Hopefully the Dolphins don't end up doing this, but it is very possible so don't be surprised if it happens.

Let me know what you guys think. I will be traveling, but I will keep you posted if something comes up whenever possible.

Thanks for reading.

Yes, we need a QB and Dan was the last first rounder we had and due to David Woodley having a bad year, Dan moved into the starting job during his rookie year. Is history going to repeat itself? Is Blaine Gabbert that good? Dan was the last first round QB drafted in his year. Five other QBs went before him with John Elway being the first. More to follow I'm sure.

TX, hookem, Shawn.

TX ok you have me by 1 year, I was born in 1950, moved to FL in 57 from the cess pool called Paterson, NJ. I've been in Florida ever since. Went to Hollywood Hills on Sterling rd in Hollywood ( Go Spartans ). I used to drive past the Seminole Village every day to and from school that area now houses Hard Rock Casino. Been a Dolphin fan from day one. Believe it or not I went to Super Bowl III Jets/Colts game. Even then I couldn't pull for the Jets.

Funny I don't think many people know the Dolphins Colors were Aqua and Orange. I now live about 2 hours north of Hollywood in Port Saint Lucie. My Wife and I when we get down in the area still go to a place called Jacksons Ice Cream, maybe you have been there. If so, I know you would remember it. The Dolphins and Jacksons is the ONLY thing I miss from down there, other than all the girls :)) Don't tell my wife that :))

I think this is just more misinformation in the form of a smoke screen about moving up in the draft. There will plenty of rumors before the draft gets here, who knows if any of them are true...

dumb move. You can not compare Marino or Elway to this years draft class. Miami needs draft picks that will make a fast impact and drafting a qb with the OTA's and Camp in jepordy wouldnt be the best idea. Even if the players/owners agree on something, depending how long that could take some of the preseason could be shot as well and for a rookie coming into the nfl as a qb and having to learn the playbook and working with a new OC it would be a horrible choice to make. Miami needs to take someone that can come in even if ota's and camp is missed and still contribute and that may not be a qb. Hate to say this, but it looks like we are stuck with Henne for 2011

I do,not believe we have another Class of '83. Do I think Gabbert is that good? No. Would it be a waste of a draft pick? Yes. I may turn out wrong but my gut is talking right now. Yes, we need help at that position but in such a way that it will push Henne to do much better and pay attention or help him out the door. That would be a FA now and draft the future in round three, four or five. Let's start with the foundation first. The OL needs at least two beasts. We also need a RB and another WR on offense. Defense needs another NT, a strong OLB and a demon DE. DBs wouldn't be bad but you have to pressure the QB to help them.
Picking a quarterback in the first round is a dumb move. Labor negotiations are in court now and I doubt things will be ironed out til maybe the third preseason game was scheduled to be played. Even that would be a miracle knowing how lawyers operate. If the NFL had not locked out the players, negotiations could have continued but any quick settlement is gone now. No drafted qb is going to be ready to run an NFL team with no pre season games or camp so wait til next year. Henne may do well. He has a good arm and is very young yet. We do need another qb on the team and I hope they get Ponder in the third round.
The only way this could work is if we can get a free-agent QB that can be a mentor and can get us 9 to 10 wins! If we don't have that a rookie coming into Miami would just be ruined at ever being able to make himself stand out in the NFL!

No trading up or down. Don't waste the future draftpicks or the money!! Take Ingram @ 15. Get a rookie QB in the 3rd round. i agree with getting a FA QB to be a mentor for the rookie and hopefully get the starter job over henne. Do some major spring cleaning this year!!!!, especially @ QB.
Trading up, no way. There isn't a player in this years draft worth mortaging our future on. Either stay at 15 or trade back. Bythe time FA does happen bringing in a FA QB won't matter, time will still be needed to get that QB up to speed. There
amaze me anymore than Henne. Mallett,Ponder or Copernick would be better picks for Qb.

trade down pick up some more picks in early rounds, and draft only o-line players, fix what yall said all year long was wrong with the team( the o-line) ,,,lets get one part fix for a long time and a great o-line will make a poor QB into a great one,, next year is the QB year luck

You do not trade UP when you have no 2nd round pick.....that is stupid.

Secondly, the jury is still out on Sparano and Ireland and potentially this could end up being a 6-10 team which means next year's draft picks would be extremely valuable high picks. You also don't mortgage the team when you do not have confidence in your head coach.

They will more than likely trade down and be agressive in FA as the owner has already stated.
